Commenting on the situation in the agricultural sector, Anna Lazurenko called for maintaining subsidies for the agricultural sector in Ukraine on equal terms with other EU countries:
“Recently, the term of duty-free access of Ukrainian agricultural products to the EU markets, which the international organization granted immediately after the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, has expired.
At the same time, on April 8, more stringent restrictions on imports of certain types of agricultural products from Ukraine, in particular poultry, eggs, sugar, corn, cereals, and honey, were preliminarily agreed upon to the average volumes that were in the period from mid-2021 to the end of 2023.
We believe that duty-free access of agricultural products and processed products to the EU markets should remain on a permanent basis, which will allow investors to count on long-term demand and invest in processing in Ukraine.”
The event, organized by the Ukrainian Bar Association, aimed to highlight significant legal aspects affecting business and investment in Ukraine. The forum brought together government officials, business leaders, lawyers, and foreign investors on one platform.
In particular, the top manager of NIBULON and other participants of the session “Ukraine’s accession to the European Union: implications for business?” discussed opportunities and challenges for exporting Ukrainian products to the EU, raised issues of importing goods from the EU to Ukraine, and other business aspects of Ukraine’s European integration.
