Today, one of the answers to the question of what Ukraine’s national idea could be is the belief that we should unite around the agricultural theme, as our fertile lands have the potential to feed the world. This assertion is based on the hard work of small and medium-sized farming enterprises, which form the backbone of Ukraine’s agricultural ecosystem.
Valerii Yushchenko, director of DAR-YU farm in Kremenchuk district, Poltava region, is one of these farmers.
Valerii started farming in 1996 with sunflower cultivation. He recalls that the land he leased at the time was overgrown with weeds, but he was determined to continue farming. Valerii is convinced that his good nature, positive attitude and unconditional love for the land helped him achieve his goals. He named his enterprise DAR-YU because he has always treated every plant that sprouted from the ground as a gift, for which he was extremely grateful to the land.
Currently, his crop rotation includes wheat, barley, peas, winter rapeseed, sunflower, soybeans, corn, and buckwheat. Valerii calls all his plants his children. He can talk about them for hours, insisting that each one needs to be cared for, to make sure that they rooted, strengthened, and successfully go through the growing and ripening period. Otherwise, there will be no result, he believes.
Valerii Yushchenko is a supporter of organic farming. For several years now, he has refused to use pesticides and mineral fertilizers on his growing areas, replacing them with biota, which improves humus, retains moisture, and yields a good harvest.
ТThis scientific approach is effective: crop yields have improved, the soil is alive and not burdened with chemicals, and the economy is in the black.
Valerii is grateful to NIBULON for the science of doing business, as it was our company that once gave the farmer an understanding of the market.
“We started selling our crops profitably after we shook hands with Oleksiy Vadaturskyy and agreed to cooperate. Since then, Kremenchutska branch and its incredible team have been supporting us for many years, offering favorable purchase prices. Such a partnership as ours with NIBULON is worth a lot, because it is based on the shared values, years of experience, and mutual trust,” says Valerii Yushchenko.
NIBULON, in turn, strives not to betray the trust of farmers and, despite the difficult times, the absence of river navigation, and the blocked Mykolaiv port hub, continues to keep purchase prices at a proper level and improve its services.
International partners come to the rescue by providing tools to reduce logistics costs, which ultimately results in the best purchase price for the farmer’s grain. For example, thanks to the fifty hopper cars and thirteen grain trailers provided by the USAID Economic Resilience Activity, the company manages to keep the price of grain transportation at a reasonable level, as the cost of transporting grain by its own vehicles is on average 20% lower than the services of external operators.
Thanks to international support, NIBULON can be proud to cooperate with more than 2,660 farmers, together with whom, despite the circumstances, it continues to feed the world by delivering grain to 25 countries, including the most remote corners of Africa.
We are always open to new partners! We invite you to cooperate! We invite you to cooperate with us!
