In August 2023, USAID, through its Economic Resilience Activity (ERA), delivered two Rakoraf mechanical grain samplers to NIBULON’s Bessarabska branch. These samplers provide a quick and reliable method for sampling grains and oilseeds from open vehicles and delivering the samples to the laboratory.
Zakhar Miedviediev, the Bessarabska branch director, says that the equipment has enhanced the operations of the existing samplers at the branch, the company’s river terminal that exports Ukrainian grain through the Danube ports to the seaport of Constanta:
“The additional samplers allow us to process 350 vehicles per day, which is 50% more than before, enabling us to conduct laboratory tests and to ship agricultural products for export faster. During the year of operation, the two samplers provided by USAID conducted incoming grain quality control on about 43,450 vehicles, or 1.1 million tons of grain. This accounts for 90% of the total volume of grain exported by the company through Bessarabska branch in the 2023–2024 marketing year.”
We are grateful to our partners for their support, which enables NIBULON to operate and continue feeding the world.
