Mykhailo informed authorities – representatives of the Ukrainian and Canadian ministries and agencies – about NIBULON’s position to include Mykolaiv Sea Port in the “grain agreement” considering that it is expected to be continued. Mykhailo Rizak told the participants about the necessity to urgently demine agricultural lands. According to him, to deoccupy lands is not enough to renew Ukraine’s positive impact on global food security. The disposal of mines and other unexploded munitions can take decades, while the sowing campaign must be performed now. The world can lose up to 30 million tons of Ukrainian grain in future without supporting Ukraine financially and technologically. NIBULON has already created its own demining group and plans to expand this direction. The company also negotiates with equipment producers that will speed up demining as opposed to traditional methods. For example, it concerns the usage of drones which analyze a land and draw a map of damaged and mined areas. This will facilitate sappers’ work. “We want to return fields into Ukraine’s economy this year”, notes Mykhailo Rizak. The program also included presentations from the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Export Development Canada – Exportation et développement Canada (EDC), the Canadian sectoral associations as well as panel discussions of representatives from Ukrainian agricultural companies and retail companies. We thank the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine for inviting and assisting in solving problems of Ukrainian business in this difficult time.
