The Forum was discussed the launch of the humanitarian demining market, the creation and scaling of the production of equipment and demining machines, attracting international support and promoting the innovations development in this area, as well as the new initiative of government – compensating farmers for part of the costs of purchasing demining services on open and transparent tenders.Mykhailo attended the panel discussion «How to achieve strategic goals in demining conditions of limited resources? Demining and restoration of the agricultural sector» and presented the NIBULON’s experience, which, after receiving the status of demining operator and the first certificate of non-technical survey in April of this year, has already managed to return almost 4000 ha of arable lands to the economy.«We are in conditions where it is not profitable for agricultural producers to order demining services because their cost currently exceeds the cost of the land itself. Obviously, farmers need help, and donors and the state should come for help. That is why we absolutely agree with the First Vice-Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, that Ukraine needs funds for demining. We also welcome the government’s initiative to compensate farmers. As a demining operator, NIBULON shortly will have four powerful demining machines at its disposal, for which we are express our special gratitude to DEG impulse. Before the war, as an exporter, our company worked with about 4500 small and medium-sized farmers, today – with 3000, who are ready to participate in tenders of Prozorro», – said Mykhailo Rizak.Mr. Rizak emphasized that it is important to facilitate farmers to cultivate demined lands, because currently they operate at a loss on some crops: «We sincerely thank to the Ambassy of USA and USAID, who understand the importance of reducing the cost of logistics for a better purchase price for farmers and have already provided NIBULON 50 modern hopper wagons, thanks to which it was possible to improve economy of grain transportation, reduce the cost of grain transportation and offer farmers better purchase prices».According to Mykhailo, the next important stage should be the demining of waterways, which will have a positive effect on the economics of transporting grain and oil crops during export operations.«Previously, the Mykolaiv port hub was the leader in grain transportation of. It provided more than 30% of exports. Currently, the waterways to it are mined. At the same time, more than 50% of water areas of Ukraine have already been de-occupied and are available for demining. It is time to act! After all, it is water logistics that can give Ukrainian farmers that additional potential of profitability, that could be directed to the development of production. In the case of demining of water areas, we have a powerful internal resource. NIBULON is capable of very quickly launching the production of platform vessels for underwater deminers, which were engineered by our designers. It’s just a matter of a request from the state. We are ready to provide the State Emergency Service and the State Special Transport Service with the necessary means to make our rivers and ports safe. Such platforms can also be exported even under the current conditions», – emphasized Mykhailo Rizak.
