As part of the project, which will unite NIBULON employees under the slogan “Making Ukraine safe again”, every employee of the company, regardless of gender and position, will be able to undergo special training in the preparatory process for humanitarian demining, namely, preparation for non-technical survey of the territory (NTS).
According to Yana Romanenko, NIBULON’s HR Director, the initiative is a harmonious continuation of the company’s efforts to clean up Ukrainian land from war-related contamination.
“Our employees, like no one else, understand that the future economic well-being of the country and the food security of the world depend on the availability of Ukrainian land for cultivation, our ability to work the fields and harvest the crops. The more people who have the opportunity and skills to join the demining work, the faster we will return the land to the economy,” Yana states.
Today, NIBULON is the first and only agricultural company to operate humanitarian demining. We have 5 certificates in humanitarian demining, our own fleet of demining equipment, highly qualified sappers with practical military and humanitarian experience on staff and have already returned more than 5,000 hectares of Ukrainian land to circulation.
The opening of courses for employees, after which they will receive a certificate of a non-technical site survey specialist, will expand the scope of the social mission and scale up the clean-up of Ukrainian land.
It should be noted that NTS is a preparatory process for further possible demining, which includes collecting, analyzing and evaluating information about the area without the use of technical means and does not involve contact with explosive objects and their disposal, which should be carried out by senior specialists.
We are convinced that in times of war, the relevance of such specialists cannot be overestimated.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, 30% of Ukraine’s territory has been subjected to intense fighting. Today, our country is the most mined territory in the world. In addition, Russia deliberately mines agricultural land to make it impossible to use it and threaten food security both in Ukraine and globally.
The area of potentially hazardous agricultural land now stands at 2 million hectares on the liberated territories and 6 million hectares on the occupied territories. It will take years to clean them up. For example, the war in Georgia lasted 5 days, while mine clearance took 11 years.
