The sowing campaign has been completed in all regions of Ukraine just in time for the first frost. We owe this success to the professional actions of the NIBULON agricultural team, who once again this season had to adapt their work to the unfavorable weather conditions: drought conditions, under which sowing was carried out in dry soil for the second year in a row, thus “preserving” the seeds in anticipation of favorable weather conditions.

“Under such circumstances, there are risks of provocative precipitation, which can trigger germination but provide insufficient moisture for further plant development, potentially leading to crop loss,” explains Oleg Veselov, Director of Agricultural Production at NIBULON. “Thus, we lost part of our rapeseed and had to resow it. Despite these challenges, the vast majority of seedlings have survived, developed, and are entering the winter in a satisfactory and good condition.”
This has been facilitated by the soil moisture conservation techniques implemented in the company, which allow for the improvement of both the quality and the economics of crops even in drought conditions and with limited access to moisture.
As a result, NIBULON has sown 8,600 hectares of winter wheat and 7,500 hectares of winter rapeseed. The lion’s share of these crops is concentrated in Mykolaiv region. According to the development strategy for the agricultural sector, this year the area under rapeseed has almost tripled, while the area for winter wheat has decreased by 20% compared to the previous year. The expansion of rapeseed cultivation is driven by the high profitability of this crop, which makes it economically attractive even in the face of climate change.
