In general, the USAID project will purchase 50 modern hoppers for NIBULON’s need, each of which can transport up to 70 tons of grain. They were produced on the Research-Mechanical Factory Karpaty (Lviv region). The new wagons, which NIBULON received from the partners, allow to compensate additional logistics expenses of the river infrastructure blocking. They are already in use at the company’s facilities. Immediately from the manufacturing factory, the wagons headed for loading to the closest production the branch Smotrych near Kamianets-Podilskyi. From here they will go to the ports of the Danube region.“In current conditions it is extremely important for stevedoring companies to feel international support. Hoppers as evidence of this support, will pass throughout Ukraine. Therefore, thanks to the help of USAID, exporters will be able to retain highly professional team at blocked river infrastructure facilities and offer better purchase prices for agricultural producers”, – noted Mykhailo Rizak, Director on Government Relations and Sustainability of NIBULON.In general, to compensate for the lost river logistics, which in the pre-war period amounted 4,2 mln tons of grain, NIBULON needs 1 route train consists of 50 wagons for each of the blocked river ports. With the USAID wagons, the company will have 212 wagons, which is about half of the need.Assistance to agricultural producers and infrastructure companies is part of the Agricultural Sustainability Initiative in Ukraine, implemented by the United States Agency for International Development. It is aimed at helping Ukraine increase its potential for grain production, storage, transportation and export.
