The agricultural production department of NIBULON has reduced water consumption by 34% compared to the previous season.
These results were achieved by adopting modern approaches to applying crop protection products, particularly through implementing lower water application rates.
In 2024, the agricultural department saw a notable reduction in water usage. Water intake from surface (river) and underground (well) sources totaled 80,184 m³, 34% less than in 2023 (121,210 m³).
This was made possible by adopting modern methods for applying crop protection, specifically by using lower water volumes during spraying. NIBULON now utilizes advanced sprayers and mixing systems for plant protection products, notably the Kobzarenko RZS-28 model. This new equipment ensures more precise water and plant protection product dosing, reduces losses during solution preparation, and minimizes water overuse in spray mixtures
In addition to technical innovations, we updated our crop protection technology maps for key crops—corn, soybeans, wheat, and rapeseed—in 2024.
One key decision was to adopt a low-volume application approach, significantly reducing the water used during crop treatment.
As a result, water consumption per hectare was substantially lowered:
- 110 L/ha for pre-emergent herbicides
- 30–50 L/ha for post-emergence herbicides.
To maximize the effectiveness of active ingredients, each solution is now checked for pH level, hardness, and other key indicators. Agronomists also monitor external factors (temperature, humidity, wind speed) to select the optimal conditions for applying crop protection products. This method reduced pressure on water resources and ensured the effectiveness of plant protection through precise product dosing and control of working solution parameters.
Control over water usage has been strengthened at the cluster level. All processes are accompanied by regular reporting and analysis of usage trends.
This is just one of the steps toward sustainable development that NIBULON consistently implements. We believe that the responsible use of natural resources contributes to our shared future.
Earlier, we reported on the results of the previous season in the Agricultural Production Department, as well as on the 2025 sowing campaign.
