According to the agreement, the shipyard must construct five crafts for the needs of the State Border Service of Ukraine on its facilities in Mykolaiv. The start of work was planned for February 2022. However, due to the full-scale invasion of the russian federation on the territory of Ukraine, the partners had to look for an alternative solution in order to continue the fulfillment of the agreement. The parties agreed to move construction to France with the mandatory involvement of Ukrainian shipbuilders. Accordingly, already at the beginning of June, 23 specialists, particularly pipefitters, hull assemblers, mechanics, welders, and technical support specialists, went to France, where they will continue the fulfillment of the intergovernmental agreement at the facilities of the OCEA shipbuilding company.Shipbuilders will be involved in the construction of the crafts from scratch – from the beginning of assembling of the deck to commissioning works. The obtained expertise will allow us by forces of our specialists to carry out technical maintenance of the fleet in Ukraine in the future. Thanks to this, it is possible to keep the vessels in the proper condition and reduce the total cost of the ownership of the fleet, which on average consists of 70% of maintenance costs.“Now, in the conditions of the war, the huge part of the local productions is forced to cease their operations. We are grateful to the government for providing our shipbuilders with work, building a fleet and keeping Ukraine in status of a maritime state, – says Bohdan Muzyka, Director of the Shipyard. – The experience that shipbuilders are getting now in the process of execution of the order suggests that we are unbreakable. Ukrainian shipbuilders can construct a fleet anywhere, in every part of the world. We have all necessary knowledge, skills and inspiration to fulfill the orders of the state. We will remind you that the intergovernmental agreement between France and Ukraine is an integral part of the project to strengthen the system of maritime security and protection of Ukraine, supported by the Cabinet of Ministers.
