Oleksiy Zymtsov, a head of metal processing workshop, met and familiarized the guests with the shipyard. He told the pupils about the shipyard’s history and how it operated.
The pupils visited the assembly and sectional workshop, where Kostyantyn Karpukhin, a head of the assembly and welding workshop, explained and demonstrated how to form sections for NIBULON’s future vessels. During the excursion, the pupils inspected the metal processing workshop as well as the metal cleaning and priming area with Rösler preservation line. The pupils were impressed by the modern equipment operated by the shipyard’s specialists. Everybody noticed its capacity and how easy it was to cut and bend metal to produce parts
The NIBULON MAX 140-m vessel impressed the guests the most. Its dimensions were the first thing to impress the pupils. They were extremely pleased having come aboard the vessel. On entering a captain’s bridge, the pupils took on the roles of captains. They had an opportunity to sit in the captain’s chair and observe a control console. The visitors saw the vessel’s center – its engine room. They all paid attention to the Rolls-Royce equipment. According to the pupils, they are aware of Rolls-Royce as a company that produce first-class cars, but they did not expect to see the high-tech Rolls-Royce equipment on board the Ukrainian vessel.
Upon excursion completion, the schoolchildren actively shared their emotions. “We liked the shipyard very much, especially the time spent on board the vessel. I have seen such a vessel for the first time in my life. I am impressed by the vessel’s dimensions and its modern equipment. It has a very unusual design”, told Oleksandr, a ninth-former .
Teacher Nadia Matiashevska summarized: “It is a very large shipyard with many employees. Mykolaiv is really a shipbuilding region. It demonstrates the real possibilities of the Ukrainian shipbuilding and water cargo transportation. It is also interesting for the youth, without doubt. Some will be engaged in shipbuilding and help to revive shipbuilding in our city in future. The children were able to see the vessel construction process from the inside and realize the complexity and laboriousness of the shipbuilder’s job. We thank NIBULON for this opportunity.”
