“… To complete our happiness, we did not have enough hopper cars. We made a decision. We solved the issue in a very short time and we have already received them…”, wrote Oleksiy Vadaturskyy on his Facebook.
Only a week passed, and 20 hopper cars have already arrived at one of NIBULON’s complexes – “Smotrych” branch (Kamianets-Podilskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region). The branch, which is equipped with highly productive devices, performed loading in the shortest possible time. The commodities have already been sent to the transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv.
Hopper cars for grain 19-6869 produced by KARPATY Experimental Mechanical Plant have modern characteristics: weight-carrying capacity – 70.5 tons, cubic capacity – 120 cubic meters. For comparison: hopper cars 19-752, which are provided by Ukrzaliznytsia, have cubic capacity of 94 cubic meters.
Employees of “Smotrych” branch were the first to appreciate NIBULON’s hopper cars. “I am delighted with them. They are not just super-new and modern, but also very nice and high-capacity; these are real non-self-propelled vessels, but on the railway. Now the elevators that don’t have access to water shipments also have their own fleet”, said director of “Smotrych” branch Ruslan Hurskyi
According to Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, until very recently NIBULON didn’t plan to buy hopper cars. In his opinion, there are enough hopper cars in Ukraine to transport twice as much grain,
“The railcars turnover from the center of Ukraine to the port should be 3-4 days (in both directions), but not 10-12 days as it happens now. No matter how many railcars you add, if the effectiveness of their use is not improved, the situation will not change and railcars turnover will even get worse; there will always be lack of railcars”, he said.
NIBULON has years of successful experience in organizing logistics infrastructure in Ukraine. The company’s modern complexes are capable of loading hopper cars efficiently. So, it takes the company 3 days, while others use them 3-4 times less efficiently. Hopper cars should be a mode of efficient delivery of goods. According to the company’s management, Ukraine should adopt the successful experience of the leading countries in the organization of logistics infrastructure. That’s not just about rail transport, but also about road and water transport.
