The French colleagues were particularly interested in the Ukrainian grain exports. Therefore, during a business visit to Ukraine the guests wanted to visit Mykolaiv transshipment terminal of NIBULON, a leader of the Ukrainian agrarian market. Serhii Kalkutin, deputy general director of logistics, familiarized the guests with the terminal’s production capacities.
The French agrarians were very impressed by the three-story laboratory and administrative building equipped with laboratory and research equipment of the highest world standards for determining quality measurements and research activities with grain and its processed products. The laboratory is unique in Ukraine. The French colleagues saw with their own eyes a process of determining quality, safety, GMO presence in specific grain samples. They also highly appreciated the organization and working conditions at the terminal,
“We very impressed by a laboratory complex. We constantly carry out many analyses of vegetables we produce and we are familiar with the equipment and processes we have seen today. You employ real specialists, since we were able to get professional answers to all our questions”, said Gilbert Brouder, president of UCPT.
The guests also paid attention to the silos with a total capacity of 173 thousand tons, in particular two grain domes with a capacity of 50 thousand tons each and diameter of 65 m, plus a new elevator complex for shipment of grain and oilseeds (43 thousand tons) put into operation in May 2018. Such capacities allow the company to store 10 different crops separately and simultaneously. Besides distributing them by classes according to DSTU, it is possible to separate grain by quality indices. And the reconstructed cargo berth, which was extended in May, allows the company to handle up to five vessels at the same time (total length of waterside at the terminal is almost 800 m),
“The transshipment terminal and storage capacities you offer are really impressive, especially for us, the company that sends up to 80 trucks loaded with vegetables per day. And it is extremely clean and nice here”, said director of UCPT Anne-Marie L’aminot.
At the end of the excursion, the French colleagues thanked for a meeting and expressed their hope to welcome the management of NIBULON at their own facilities in France.
