NIBULON continues to increase volumes of river transportation and diversify cargoes. As part of the cooperation with Metinvest-Shipping Ltd, NIBULON’s cargo fleet, in addition to metal, has already transported more than 16,000 tons of mining products (coal) from Yuznny Port to Kamianske (Dnipropetrovsk region).
According to the agreement with Metinvest-Shipping, during July-November, NIBULON plans to transport about 48,000 tons of metal products and coal a month. Taking into account that the average cargo capacity of a railcar is 67 tons, in five months, 3,585 railcars will be freed due to the services of the company for transportation by water.
NIBULON’s shipping company transports not only grain but also other cargoes. In 2017, NIBULON’s fleet delivered Kherson watermelons to Kyiv. In April 2018, it transported the first batch of Ukrainian metal, building materials (piles) to “Kremenchuts’ka” branch (Poltava region), and 11,000 tons of sand from Ochakiv to Mykolaiv for concrete production.
The redirection of agricultural, metallurgical, mining products and building materials to inland waterways will allow us not only to remove traffic load on the country’s roads, which will prevent the destruction of the road surface, but also lift the load on the railways and reduce the shortage of rolling stock in the Ukrainian market. River resources is a huge potential of our country; it allows us not only to optimize logistics.
NIBULON is actively redirecting its cargoes to water transport. Every year the company increases volumes of cargoes transported by inland waterways. As it has been recently mentioned, in 2017/18 MY, NIBULON transported 2.5 million tons by water, having removed more than 108,000 trucks from the Ukrainian roads.
