Every year thousands of employees from more than 150 third-party contracting organizations work at various NIBULON’s construction sites. Unfortunately, despite the strict requirements and constant control by our company of compliance with the rules of labour protection and fire safety in order to create safe working conditions, there is always a contracting organization or its employee who doesn’t adhere to the rules established
Unfortunately, such a situation happened at NIBULON’s transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv on March 25. The employees of Evrostroimontazh Ltd. (director – Roman Barshak) trying to speed the term of delivery of their object at the construction site up, on a day off, without prior agreement with NIBULON, as defined by the terms of the contract and violating the rules of fire safety (Guidelines on Arrangement of Safe Hot Works at Fire Explosive and Explosive Facilities and order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine No. 1417 dated December 30, 2014 “On Approval of Fire Safety Rules in Ukraine” , performed hot works during installation of the metalware. As a result of such negligence, a spark from metal fell on the rubber conveyor belt of equipment which wasn’t connected to a power supply, which caused its ignition and considerable smoke (we will carry out an experiment and by example of a piece of rubber conveyor belt, which will be set on fire, we will demonstrate that it caused such smoke).  
Due to professional actions of the terminal’s employees and employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, a localized fire was quickly put out. We express our deep gratitude to them.
No one was injured. The consequences of the fire were eliminated. The company didn’t suffer losses.
Considering the fact that hot works were carried out at a considerable distance from the operating technological lines, and in the immediate vicinity there was only equipment that wasn’t connected to a power supply, the transshipment terminal has operated in a normal mode.
We will impose sanctions against Evrostroimontazh Ltd. in accordance with the terms of the agreement and upon completion of all works at the site this contractor will not be allowed to participate in tenders to perform construction works or any other works at our facilities.  We’ll do the same thhings with each organization violating the rules of labour protection and fire safety when performing works or operating equipment. Any contractor or subcontractor should clearly understand the work is to be performed in accordance with the rules established, and not hope “that’s fine as it is, because it is not my own equipment” etc. Appreciate your work and the opportunity not to wander abroad in its quest, respect your colleagues and customers. Such negligence not only discredits our company, but may lead to other consequences.
It is a pity, but this situation has also demonstrated that there are people who were glad about the situation at our terminal. Nothing happens only if you do nothing. In turn, we will analyze this situation in detail, draw conclusions, take proper measures to prevent the repetition of such rare cases and will continue to invest in the economy and to develop the country.
