On November 14, teachers of geography and economics from Mykolaiv schools, who are undergoing refresher training at Mykolaiv Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education, and pupils of the 11th form from Mykolaiv comprehensive boarding school No. 6 (for children with hearing loss) visited NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard and the terminal.
Despite the fact that this was not the first time most of the guests visit NIBULON’s facilities in Mykolaiv, they had plenty of new impressions. In particular, the teachers noted significant upgrade of production facilities at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard due to construction of new workshops and installed modern foreign equipment from the world’s leading manufacturers. The teachers were pleasantly impressed by the number of shipyard’s orders; the shipbuilders are busy constructing several orders at once.
As for the pupils, the fact that they have met the shipyard’s employees who also communicate using sign language was the greatest delight for them.
The excursion at the transshipment terminal and laboratory was not less exciting for the guests. Halyna Karpiuk, an employee of Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment, noted that contents of school textbooks should be changed and updated,
“Creating tasks for EIT on geography, we would like to have reliable information, to have a complete picture of production in Ukraine, new techniques, and new prospective fields of activity. The things we have seen at NIBULON today convince us that it is necessary to change contents of school textbooks and education content. Ukrainian children should know about modern shipbuilding, modern workshops equipped with foreign devices, certified laboratories that perform analyses of different complexity and are equipped with foreign laboratory equipment, as well as with equipment from domestic manufacturers”.
Halyna Karpiuk also noted that due to equipment installed in the company’s chemical-technological laboratory and working conditions created there, graduates of faculty of chemistry of Ukrainian universities should strive to work in such Ukrainian companies rather than try to leave the country.
At the end of the meeting, teachers and schoolchildren thanked the management for a warm welcome and tasty lunch, as well as for the long-term cooperation of the company with educational institutions.
