As it has been announced before, the company’s fleet performed the first cargo trip to Voznesensk of Mykolayiv region. Tug “Pereyaslavskyi” and the non-self propelled vessel NBL-030 started operating on the Southern Bug River above Nova Odesa having performed the following route: transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv – “Novoodes’ka” branch – “Voznesens’ka” branch – “Novoodes’ka” branch – transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv.
The long-distance route took less than 24 hours, and the non-self-propelled vessel took 2 thousand tons of wheat grown by the company’s branches to its holds. The total time of loading hadn’t exceeded 8 hours. On return of the non-self-propelled vessel to Mykolayiv, the grain cargo was disembarked for further batch formation.
According to Yevgen Ignatenko, NIBULON’s shipping company director, Ukraine received 134 km of the Southern Bug River that became navigable as a present to its anniversary of the Independence. “The last time the local citizens of Voznesensk saw cargo fleet was in 1991. Our modern tugs and non-self-propelled vessels are unusual for people but they will get used to it. The Southern Bug River will be busy here every day during the navigation season”, added Yevgen Ignatenko.
NIBULON’s fleet in Voznesensk indicated decrease in traffic loading on highways of the region. Thus, due to one cargo trip, 80 trucks were removed from the highways. In the near future NIBULON’s fleet will perform cargo trips by convoys with two non-self-propelled vessels, transporting 4 thousand tons of grain per one cargo trip. It means that each time 160 trucks will be removed from highways.
Moreover, in the near future NIBULON will increase volumes of grain cargoes and building materials (sand, road metal, etc.) that will be transported along the Southern Bug River up to 1 million tons which is equal to 42 thousand trucks.
We can state a fact that NIBULON has completed implementing a key part of the investment project to revive the Southern Bug River as the main transport artery of Mykolayiv region. It has improved navigability of the transport artery and built the high-tech transshipment terminal.
Despite this, there are some obstacles for NIBULON’s fleet, in particular nets along the river that prevent it from operating and can provoke emergency situations. So, Yevgen Ignatenko announced that the company would initiate meetings and round tables with fisheries management organizations of Mykolayiv region.
“NIBULON’s investment activity brings benefit to citizens throughout the country by way of taxes, social programs, new workplaces, and development of infrastructure. Therefore, we stress and appeal to everyone: do not prevent us from developing the company and promoting prosperity of Ukraine. Everything else we will do on our own”, concluded Yevgen Ignatenko.
