At present the company finishes dredging works on the Southern Bug River. 134 kilometers of this river will become navigable upon completing these operations. The dredging operations in the area of “Novoodes’ka” branch are finished. The company has already started river transportation of new yield from the transshipment terminal of “Novoodes’ka” branch to the marine transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv. Thus, for half a year NIBULON’s shipping company transported 50 thousand tons of agricultural cargoes along the Southern Bug River. Transportation by waterways increased by 48 % compared to the previous year. So, due to water transportation, 2 thousand trucks with cargoes were removed from the route Mykolayiv–Nova Odesa and did not cause any damage to the highways of the region.
Moreover, “Voznesens’ka” branch has received over 15 thousand tons of grain for the first days since its commission. Agrarians from north of Mykolayiv and south of Kirovohrad regions have already experienced the advantages from cooperation with this production branch. The agricultural producers of the above mentioned regions can use their vehicles more efficiently owing to the fact that the distance of grain transportation is shortened. The agrarians can transport the harvest using fewer trucks. There is much to gain from it because the expenses for transportation have recently risen by 30 %. Furthermore, according to NIBULON’s specialists, light-duty trucks provide more convenient way of grain transportation for agrarians whose farms are located within 100 kilometers radius of the high-tech terminal in Voznesensk district, Mykolayiv region. Light-duty trucks do not cause damage to roads.
The company transported 50 thousand tons of cargoes along the Southern Bug River within a few months. We achieved the highest results of cargo transportation by waterways that were set during the Soviet era.
“During the Soviet period the maximum grain cargoes that were transported along this river comprised 50 thousand tons per year. We reached this figure within a few months. Please note that not only grain but also building materials (sand, road metal, etc.) can be transported by waterways”, noted NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
The company plans to transport 1 million tons of grain cargoes along the Southern Bug River. So, the number of trucks on highways will decrease by more than 42 thousand. According to information of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, every million tons of cargoes transported by river save about UAH 790 million on pavement repair. As one can see, NIBULON proceeds from words to action and contributes to decrease in traffic loading on highways of Ukraine.
