The company launched the first out of eight non-self-propelled vessels of the B2000 project intended for operation on the Southern Bug River at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard on May 19, 2016.
As it has been announced, in June the vessel NBL-029 began the work on the Southern Bug River. Its first cargo trip was performed with the tug Kremenchutskyy en-route: the transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv – “Novoodes’ka” branch – the transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv.
The route took less than 8 hours and the non-self-propelled vessel took 2 thousand tons of wheat to its holds. The total time of loading hadn’t exceeded 8 hours. On return of NBL-029 to Mykolayiv, the grain cargo will be disembarked for further batch formation.
Due to one cargo trip of the non-self-propelled vessel, 80 trucks are removed from highways of Mykolayiv region. In the near future these vessels will operate along the Southern Bug River by convoys, transporting 4 thousand tons of grain per one cargo trip and each time removing 160 trucks from highways of Mykolayiv region.
The company plans to transport 1 million tons of grain cargoes along the Southern Bug River. So, the number of trucks on highways will decrease by more than 42 thousand. According to information of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, every million tons of cargoes transported by river save about UAH 790 million on pavement repair.
Thus and so, NIBULON not only revives and develops river navigation successfully but also contributes to an essential decrease in traffic loading on highways and level of anthropogenic impact on the environment.
Please note that as part of the realization of multiple project to revive the Southern Bug River as the main transport artery of the Southern Ukraine, NIBULON builds a number of non-self-propelled vessels of the B2000 project. It dredges the Southern Bug River at its own expense. 134 kilometers of this river will become navigable upon completing these operations. NIBULON also builds a high-tech transshipment terminal in Voznesensk district of Mykolayiv region that will receive the new grain at the end of June.
