NIBULON is the Only Ukrainian Company Constructing Ukrainian Fleet

The Port of Ukraine magazine and the Black Sea Trans information and analytical center organized the event. The ceremony was held with the assistance of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and leading sectoral associations.
In order to name the rating’s winner, the companies’ indicators in 2015 and the appraisal of 78 experts among managers of companies and leading specialists of the sector were taken into consideration.
In addition to last year’s achievements, the experts have named the largest fails in the domestic marine and economic sector, in particular personnel and investment policy miscalculations made by the Ministry of Infrastructure, the absence of reforms, inefficient work of the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine, and unimplemented projects (the Dnipro dredging was not started in 2015).
According to the rating results, NIBULON has traditionally won under the category “Fleet revival”, as the only Ukrainian company constructing vessels from Ukrainian metal. The vessels sail under the Ukrainian flag.
NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard in Mykolayiv is the only shipyard in Ukraine, constructing complete vessels. At present the company continues constructing its cargo fleet. In particular, the shipyard constructed and put into operation three tugs (121 project) in 2015: Kremenchutskyi, Kozatskyi, and Pereislavskyi which official keel-laying was held in August 2014 under the participation of the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
In addition, NIBULON constructed three non-self-propelled vessels (NBL-91 project) and Nibulonivets non-self-propelled floating crane with a capacity of 5 thousand tons per day. The crane together with Terex Fuchs transshipment grab mobile crane purchased earlier by the company is used to enlarge batches of non-self-propelled vessels in order to complete the loading thereof to achieve the full shipload on the Dnipro section below the Dniprodzerzhynsk sluice gates, as well as to unload and complete the loading in the outer and inner roads of Mykolayiv Sea Port.
The non-self-propelled NBL-91 project vessels are designed to transport cargoes along shallow rivers, in particular along the Southern Bug. The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko participated in launching, putting into operation and keel-laying three vessels of the NBL-91 project.
Today the company continues implementing its program to revive domestic shipbuilding and river navigation. In March 2015, NIBULON started constructing the first two non-self-propelled of the B2000 project and also the fourth vessel of the NBL-91 project. All these vessels are designed for operation on the Southern Bug. The first two B2000 project vessels will start operation in June 2016.
As part of NIBULON’s multiple program to revive the Southern Bug as the main transport waterway in Mykolayiv region, in October 2015, NIBULON started constructing its transshipment terminal along the Southern Bug in the territory of Buzke village council (Voznesensk district). This modern high-tech computerized facility in Buzke village will become the second terminal along the Southern Bug. The company plans to finish constructing till June 15, 2016.
In addition, in 2015, NIBULON started dredging the Southern Bug. The company is dredging itself and at its own expense by using its own technical facilities. The first stage of dredging will be completed in June 2016.
At present the company transports and ships for export about 1.5 million tons of agricultural commodities per year by inland waterways. Upon completion of the implementation of the investment program, the cargo transportation will be up to 3 million tons of grain annually, which represents the same figure as could be carried by about 46 thousand railcars or about 100 thousand tons of trucks per year. In addition, about 1 million tons of grain from Voznesensk and Pervomaisk districts as well as from Kirovograd region will be transported along the Southern Bug. This will enable to remove about 50 thousand high tonnage trucks from roads annually.
NIBULON’s activity is a priceless contribution to the development of marine and economic complex of our country. Due to the company’s persistence and regular work, Ukraine has a real chance to revive river transportation, to have its own river fleet, and to construct progressive competitive European economy.
