“Five specialists from NIBULON’s shipping company underwent training, were tested by the Shipping Register of Ukraine as well as studied fire safety at the Ukrainian Scientific Research Institute of Civil Protection in order to work here”, tells Yuriy Savchuk, a head of the newly created service. “The department was acknowledged by the Shipping Register of Ukraine, and at present it is performing its direct duties. Its specialists inspect and maintain fire-fighting equipment, systems and items (fire hoses, fire-hose barrels, safety belts, safety lines) and also inspect and maintain lifesaving appliances (life buoys, automatic smoke pots, life jackets, etc.).
“At present the department has already maintained search-and-rescue equipment on eight NIBULON’s vessels: St. Mykolai self-propelled floating crane, tugs Prybuzhanivskyy, Lidiyivskyy, Bashtanskyy, NIBULON-1, NIBULON-2, NIBULON motor boat, plus NIBULON-7 dredger. According to the results, the service issued inspection certificates”. 
NIBULON purchased test equipment to recharge powder and carbon dioxide fire-extinguishers (Brandschutztechnik Muller); thus, in addition to the above-mentioned activities, the department will maintain and repair fire-extinguishers upon receipt of a license from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine in 2016.
In addition, the department to maintain search-and-rescue, fire-fighting equipment offers services to all ship owners and shipping companies in Mykolayiv and Ukraine.
The inspection and maintenance center is located in the territory of NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard: 2/1 Kabotazhnyy Spusk, Mykolayiv.
