While visiting NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard on Friday, the Ukrainian President made a statement that Ukraine and its economy would be revived due to such companies like NIBULON, and due to its General Director, Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, the country would be able to achieve European living standards and revive its industry and engineering.
Speaking to NIBULON’s employees, Petro Poroshenko stressed that his coming to NIBULON’s facilities was always connected with historical events.
“Mr. Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, you are a real Hero of Ukraine. Each my arrival at the shipyard is another important labour victory and another stage to form Ukrainian shipbuilding, engineering industry and Ukrainian logistics”, declared the President.
Despite the economic crisis and external aggression, NIBULON continues constructing, investing, creating workplaces, finding new markets and increasing production. The company pays taxes, increases exports of Ukrainian products and ensures efficient presence of Ukraine on product markets around the world, said the President.
“The war is not the reason for not implementing reforms and improving the economy growth. I count on such people like Oleksiy Vadaturskyy. Ukraine has not been able to create a good investment climate for 24 years. NIBULON has been facing obstacles caused by former authorities for the past eight years.
The domestic investor was not allowed to revive coastal navigation. At present I have set a task to restore the river fleet. This will promote the growth of Ukraine’s export potential. The Ukrainian products will become more competitive”, said Petro Poroshenko.
According to the President, cargo carriage on inland waterways will enable Ukraine to solve road problems as a whole, as river logistics will reduce traffic load on highways.
All export cargoes, namely grain, metal, ore and engineering products, must be transported by cheaper transport – by the river”, considers the President.
Petro Poroshenko and Andriy Pyvovarskyy, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, participated in five historical events at one time, taken place in the shipyard’s territory.
In particular, there was given a start to dredge along the Southern Bug. NIBULON will perform dredging at its own expense. “Only these authorities permitted NIBULON to dredge. During Ukraine’s independence, the river’s depth reduced from 3 to 1.65 m. The company has obtained 18 permissions for 8 years. Thus, dredging is our historical mission”, said Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
NIBULON gave a start to its first cargo trip along the Southern Bug. Petro Poroshenko and Oleksiy Vadaturskyy officially sent the company’s tug and non-self-propelled vessel to the terminal in Nova Odesa. These vessels will transport a batch of grain to the export terminal in Mykolayiv city.
In addition, NIBULON will start constructing its new river terminal in Bugske village (Voznesensk district, Mykolayiv region) within the next few days. According to Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, a network of river transshipment terminals along the Southern Bug will enable NIBULON to transport up to 1 million tons of cargoes annually, which represents the same volume as could be carried by 50 trucks.
Petro Poroshenko also participated in the official launching of NBL-026 non-self-propelled vessel designed for transporting bulk cargoes along the Southern Bug. In August 2014, the President laid down the series of such vessels – tugs and non-self-propelled barges. That day the Ukrainian President and NIBULON’s General Director symbolically laid down the next vessel of this series.
“The program, started together with you in August 2014, is being implemented successfully. During this period, we have constructed five tugs and two non-self-propelled vessels at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard, one of which is launched by NIBULON today. We have invested USD 30 million in the economy of Mykolayiv region. NIBULON obtained a loan of USD 130 million from the EBRD in order to invest in production. NIBULON never stops at what has been accomplished; the company makes historical things not only for Mykolayiv region but also for Ukraine”, noted Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
In his turn, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stressed that such people like NIBULON’s General Director and other leaders in the engineering industry would be always supported.
“We will do everything possible so that not only foreign investors may feel positive investment climate in Ukraine, but also domestic investors may receive a stimulus for development. I am sure that Ukraine having such businessmen, employees and team will become a country with appropriate living standards for Ukrainians, as we love Ukraine very much”, added the Ukrainian President.
