The unique facility (one of the world’s largest grain storage facilities that has two Europe’s largest hemispherical domes of 50 thousand tons of grain each as well as an additional grain storage complex of 30 thousand tons) has been serving as a model of architectural and technical perfection and the arrangement of receipt, storage and shipment of grain for many years. The highly productive flow and transport system of grain movement, the production and technological laboratory being equipped with the most up-to-date equipment and efficient system to dry grain allow NIBULON to conduct the entire production and technological process at the highest level.
All these factors promote an increase in product receipts and shipments thereof to consumers, achieving leading positions among the Ukrainian grain exporters. The terminal successfully operates in 2014/2015 MY. For the nine months of the current marketing year, the terminal has received 2,611,500 tons of grain and oil crops. NIBULON received the majority of grain crops in July and September 2014 as well as in January 2015 (417,365 tons, 333,520 tons and 309,290 tons respectively).
The transshipment terminal is characterized by a capability to receive the large number of cargoes, by using high-capacity conveyer and noria equipment – about 700 tons per hour, to redirect flows efficiently and to ensure quality control of products delivered to the terminal – from the initial sampling to the issuance of the grain quality information receipt. The production and technological laboratory is unique in Ukraine. It is equipped with up-to-date equipment that allows it to measure product quality. In 2014, NIBULON implemented procedures for compliance of food safety management system with the requirements of the standard ISO22000:2005 “Food safety management system. Requirements for any organization in the food chain”.
From July 01, 2014 to April 01, 2015, the transshipment terminal unloaded more than 1 million 550 thousand tons of grain and oil crops from road transport and more than 1 million 060 thousand tons from railway transport. The average number of grain unloaded from a truck comprised 43.6 tons. As of 01 April, the storage capacity utilization rate comprised 20.15 turnovers. Due to its architectural, construction and technical peculiarities, the transshipment terminal receives seven types of agricultural crops. For the nine months of the current marketing year, NIBULON received 1.127 million tons of corn, more than 900 thousand tons of wheat, more than 186 thousand tons of rapeseed, almost 4 thousand tons of sunflower, 49 thousand tons of sorghum, more than 11 thousand tons of soybean and almost 333 thousand tons of barley.
Usual working days at the transshipment terminal are the following: vessels are loaded with grain for export to different countries in the world. NIBULON organizes cargo operations in such a way so that two motor vessels may be loaded simultaneously.
For the nine months of 2014/2015 MY, the company loaded 77 motor vessels (almost 2.1 million tons of agricultural commodities) at the transshipment terminal. The company demonstrated the highest volumes of export shipments in July (314 thousand tons), September (284 thousand tons), November (281 thousand tons) 2014 and in March 2015 (almost 230 thousand tons).
At present the company keeps preparing for construction of new grain storages with a capacity of 58 thousand tons at the transshipment terminal. Thus, the transshipment terminal’s operation will promote the development of NIBULON’s export activity.
