Animal husbandry is one of the most important agricultural sectors existing in Ukraine since time immemorial. It is important for NIBULON taking into account its own full-fledged multiple development. Implementation of tasks and NIBULON’s development in the livestock sector is ensured by the department of animal husbandry and products of its processing and the department of animal husbandry ensuring and selling of products of its processing.
The livestock sector is concentrated in eight branches of Vinnytsya, Zhytomyr, Mykolayiv and Khmelnytskyy regions and numbers 11 thousand heads of cattle and pigs. Besides production value, livestock development has a significant social effect: in order to develop the sector it is necessary to create work places, and all branches of the company are provided with products of own production.
“The term ‘seasonality’ is absent in our job, as the animals must be fed constantly, and livestock product selling continues constantly. Every day we have to face ‘professional challenges’. Time is very important in our job; thus, when problems arise, they must be solved very quickly”, tells Mykola Goncharuk, a head of the department of animal husbandry and products of its processing.
He adds, “We must be aware of the situation in the livestock product market in order to react to changes in the market conditions and to make respective forecasts. I can speak for myself and for my colleagues that our job has become an integral part of our life”.
“Our specialists constantly search for the ways of development and modernization of the sector”, adds Olena Stanishevska, a specialist of the department. “For example, animal diet is improved regularly, as use of balanced diet ensures high productivity of animals with the lowest fodder consumption. We put every effort to feed the animals with qualitative fodder in order to ensure them healthy growth. We use premixes, mineral additives to balance diet according to the main nutrients in order to receive maximum productivity”.
“Professional improvement is important for successful development of our livestock sector”, tells Artur Barkar, a zootechnician. “We share our knowledge with each other not forgetting about communication and self-training. We constantly learn professional literature. Business communication and the ability to perform complex actions, mostly creative, are our main duties”.
Leonid Baranov, a veterinarian, mentions that responsibility, communication and persistence of colleagues are things to be learned. “Their devotion to work deserves respect. They constantly study something new, broaden their outlook. Our youth is talented”, he adds.
Denys Shalovinskyy, a head of the department of animal husbandry ensuring and selling of products of its processing, is not a novice.Since 2005he has worked in the sales department; in 2009 he was transferred to another department where he worked as a head of the sector. In 2013 he decided to change his course.
“I was not afraid of changing the type of activity. Trade is in my soul. There have already been achieved certain results. In 2013 (in comparison with 2012) the sales volume of meat and dairy produce was doubled; there has been organized work with the leading meat and dairy processing companies by the most profitable prices in the region”, he tells.
And he adds that due to team-work with the department of animal husbandry and products of its processing, pig breeding and qualitative milk production has reached a qualitatively new level, due to the improvement of conditions of animal keeping, improvement of fodder supplies, purchase of more qualitative components for mixed fodder production, etc. According to Denys Shalovinskyy, at present there are urgent problems of the national level that prevent the development, such as Ukraine’s import of cheap poor meet products and the signs of price collusion among milk processing companies being the main consumers of dairy cattle-breading products.
According to Iryna Dmytryshyna, an economist of the department, a peculiar commercial code is the basis of their work. Its main postulates are honesty and transparency in work, rational attitude to all partners and efficiency. She adds, “The company’s central office is our second home. It particularly concerns a conference room, as almost every day we (together with the animal husbandry department) negotiate with representatives of different companies. Our team discusses not only product selling, but also different innovations in the sector, for example, equipment of farms with modern analyzing devices, balancing of mixed fodder and modernization of dairy equipment”.
Denys Shalovinskyy mentions that other important direction of the company’s activity is to produce own meat products. They do not contain soya and artificial aromatizes, are one hundred percent natural and safe and are produced in compliance with the state quality standards. Natural meat is used which quality is controlled at all stages of the company (from grain growth and fattening of animals to production process in the modern meat processing workshop). Tastes of buyers in a number of regions of Ukraine are satisfied by different kinds of products: smoked and cooked sausages, boiled and smoked sausages, boiled sausages, small sausages, dairy sausages, smoked salted pork fat, paste, fat and others. He mentions, “The company plans to extend production and sales system, to implement new types of products to reach maximum quality, and the most important thing is to open own shop in Mykolayiv city”.
“Last year NIBULON continued the development and improvement of our mixed fodder production”, mentions Iryna Dmytryshyna, “Our department and the department of animal husbandry and products of its processing have participated in it actively. Due to our participation there was purchased and installed software, a program “Fodder Optima Expert”, intended for calculation and optimization of formulas of mixtures. Use of this software has qualitatively improved and optimized work of NIBULON’s livestock branches”.
