The department of passenger motor transport is one the old timers of the company. Today none of us can imagine our work without its team who ensures efficiency, speed and safety.
On the occasion of the Motorist Day our drivers and specialists of the department tell us about peculiarities of their profession.
“The work here is intense, thus, keeping us up. As opposed to other companies, our drivers are always on the road. For those who love the romance of road, it is the most optimal place of work. We have a lot of business trips within Ukraine. Most of our drivers know Kyiv city better than their native Mykolayiv city”, smiles Vyacheslav Pushkarevskyy, a driver.
“The notion ‘romance of road’ is peculiar not to everyone. Probably, it depends on age. The younger the driver the greater the feeling of something new and exciting; adventure spirit and even passion appear. With the lapse of time there appear reasonableness and experience. Anyway, some of our drivers when going to business trips are glad as if they have round-the-world trip. Love of road comes first. Probably, it is an important quality for a professional”, tells Sergiy Zhukov, a head of the department.
Volodymyr Gololobov, a driver, tells, “During years of work at the company I have visited every region where NIBULON’s branches are located. When I drive, sometimes I have time to see a new city. I like walk around Kyiv city; in Gradyz’k town (Poltava region) we always taste fish. July 2011 became a notable day; we visited the World Championship in class “Formula-1” on water (the first competition of such a type in my life) that was held with the assistance of NIBULON.
Mykola Vyhryst, a specialist of the department, said the company did not have any specific driver code developed for NIBULON’s drivers, nobody took demonstration driving oaths. “We do not need such a show”, he added, “However, we have experienced drivers; responsible and correct attitude to the road and all road users, careful attitude to a service vehicle. These norms which are obligatory for everyone ensure safety and compose of NIBULON’s employees during trips”.
“Before getting a job at the company, every driver has to undergo probation, to prove his professionalism, to demonstrate his experience and ability to study quickly. Those people, who remain are real professionals mastering three “C”: control, concentration, communication”, tells Volodymyr Kovalchuk, a head of the road safety department.
Oleksandr Morozov, a traffic controller, mentions, “Our professionalism provides for driving culture. These are elementary rules which execution prevents troubles on the road: to be polite; to think of safety firstly; to be calm and attentive, to be vigilant to pedestrians; to help other drivers; to take care of a car; alcohol is taboo. I think it is necessary to inoculate driving culture at driving school. It will be easier on the road”.
“A drunk driver is a criminal, a potential murder. A reckless driver is the same. Alcohol and speed increase are terms not compatible with our team. Our general condition, pressure, pulse and alcohol content are checked by a nurse before every departure. I, for example, was glad when the state traffic police started to increase fines for such violations. As neither preventive conversations nor sad statistics have an effect on the drivers. But great fines and disqualification from driving do”, adds Denys Stukalo, a driver.
Dmytro Bahmetev, a driver, tells, “Some of our drivers are superstitious. At one moment they are frightened by a black dog on the road, at another – by whistle in the car. And for some people to take up money inside of a car is a bad omen. The most widespread one is if you wash you car then wait for rain”.
“The drivers must be stress tolerant”, tells Oleg Kotlyarov, a driver, “Besides apprentices on the road, pedestrians also boost pressure. It is pleasant when our employees thank for professional driving. This means that we are recognized as high-class drivers”.
“I do not imagine my life without driving”, mentions Igor Kravchenko, a driver, “Driving is like a doping, an adrenalin for me. I want to wish my colleagues to be attentive, to think about all road users!”
