Programmer’s Day is celebrated on the 256th day of the year (on September 13 or on September 12 on leap years) – This date was chosen because this is the number of distinct values that can be represented with an eight-bit byte. Valentyn Balt, an employee of one of the web design companies, proposed to celebrate a professional holiday of programmers.
“While working for a modern European company in order to feel confident from a professional point of view, it is not enough only to have definite knowledge and skills. NIBULON’s programmer is characterized by perfect familiarization with operating systems, professional level of computer equipment operation, knowledge of several programming languages, understanding how to design comfortable user interface, opportunity to design and develop software intended for operation in conditions of constant changes and modifications, knowledge of network security methods to counteract destructive influence of local and global computer networks. Programs, developed by our programmers, are present in deferent sectors of a person’s life. That is why we have to be specialists in mathematics, statistics, economy, graphics and in many other branches of knowledge”, tells Volodymyr Bodnar, a head of the application software department.
“Most of companies where our colleagues work are small, up to 5-20 specialists. In such conditions it is easier for people to survive creating small paid multimedia products. NIBULON is a real multicellular organism, a powerful company that teaches to work solidly and ensures career prospects. To work for a large company with a lot of different tasks means precise time planning and task distribution. The busiest period for our departments is summer, beginning of winter, construction of new elevator complexes”, notes Volodymyr Ivanov, a head of the department of automatic control systems of technological processes (ACS TP), “In particular, it is connected with the beginning of new marketing year, accounting, and others. We (the departments of application software and ACS TP) use modern software and equipment, automate processes at every stages of production, as it is the right way to get maximal results”.
“The main designation of our department is to develop our own application software and to maintain extraneous one used in the systems of accounting and production records or in the systems of analysis and data processing. At present a register of all programs, maintained by us, includes almost 100 units, including 80% are programs developed by our departments. We have a lot to be proud of! Automation of accounting processes, material accountancy, fixed assets, bank payments, work automation of the personnel department are our merits. Due to us, the company was transferred to a new modern version of the accounting program “1C: Accounting 8”. We can be proud of our own system of qualitative and quantitative accounting of grain at the elevators and transshipment terminals of the company. We have already started to develop software on the basis of the program “1C: Company 8” to automate operation of the shipbuilding and repair yard “NIBULON”, tells, Anton Vorobkalo, a programming engineer of the application software department.
“The main task of the ACS TP department is to create technical and software tools, decisions intended for control automation of technological equipment at the company. Computer-aided means that equipment, developed by us, is controlled by a human. We maintain equipment that controls software installed at all branches of the company. Like our colleagues from the application software department we have definite merits. Each elevator of NIBULON operates due to automated processes implemented by us. Our real professional challenge was equipment for 4 high-tech laboratories in Odesa National Academy of Food Technologies. We performed the task successfully. Due to our laborious work, the laboratories give students the opportunity to practice methods and technologies of grain quality control, and also automation of processes to control elevators and other elements of process of grain storage and its preparation for selling. In the laboratories there are implemented all stages of control which are present at real companies”, tells Oleksandr Gryshkov, a head of the programming sector of the ACS TP department.
Sergiy Burkovskyy, a leading programming engineer of the application software department mentions, “It is possible to compare our company with others where I worked or my friends work and can describe automation mechanisms. Having systemized all information, it is possible to say that our company has a high technical level”.
“Programming is an intellectual work”, adds Yuriy Gots, a head of the equipment sector of the ACS TP department, “In order to perform tasks quickly, our department must have two things: the ability to get the required information within the shortest possible time and to avoid stressful situations that can influence on the schedule time. Programming textbooks include a lot of specific things and tasks that seldom occur in their pure form in practice. Thus, we have to use a lot of different professional literature to solve non-standard tasks. The ability to think creatively is also very important.
Leonid Logvinenko, a leading engineer of the application software department, told about professional challenges. “Programming is a branched job that includes many various technologies: from programming in the Internet sector to creation of programs to process database. Consequently, many new projects, tasks implemented at NIBULON add not only new various types of information processing, but also new tasks, so called professional challenges. Such tasks develop our professional skills”.
Dmytro Kapuka, an engineer of the ACS TP department, told, “As for me, this is understanding of main principles of object-oriented programming, PC operation and operating system; the ability and desire to carry out the same task several times to optimize it; compliance with bases and dogmata of programming and creation of own style; responsibility and devotion to work; desire to study new technologies.
