The experience of NIBULON is testimony to the fact that running a successful socially responsible business in Ukraine is difficult, but it is possible. First of all, it depends on the potential of the company itself and its management. From the very beginning of our activity we have set ourselves such an ambitious goal. In spite of any obstacles, we move on.
Every year we strive to change the lives of thousands of Ukrainians for the better. The company’s strategy is based on the non-indifference to the community’s problems and a phased and purposeful implementation of its own initiatives on charitable activities and local infrastructure development. Such persistent and consistent efforts aren´t aimed at a quick-fix result, but rather at a complex, radical change in the living conditions of Ukrainians covering different spheres: education, medical care, social infrastructure, protection of the environment, etc.
Socially responsible business
The main rule of our company is to be honest with people, business partners, banks, society. Transparent and legal methods to conduct business, openness and honesty are the key advantages of our business activity. Due to these features, we have earned confidence and respect of the leading financial institutions that became our long-standing reliable partners. NIBULON works with the World Bank, IBRD, EBRD, EIB, IFC and other world’s leading banks. According to Sevki Acuner, Director of the EBRD for Ukraine, NIBULON always fulfills its obligations and is continuing to do so; it is one of the most solid clients of the bank.
So, it is not a surprise at all that NIBULON was recognized as the winner of the reputation and financial reliability rating of Landlord magazine in 2017. As the organizers of the rating noted, the active investments ensured a good reputation, and, consequently, the victory of NIBULON. In addition, according to NOKs fishes, NIBULON is a leader in the number of positive references in the media over the past year.
To prove its responsible policy in running business and desire to work transparently and legally, in July 2017, NIBULON joined the All-Ukrainian Integrity Network. The initiative was launched by the Business Ombudsman Council, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. The goal of the network is to promote the idea of ethical and responsible business. The network members work together to assess the anti-corruption risks to implement compliance programs in their organizations, involve business representatives in discussing the principles of integrity, and increase interest in transparent business among market participants.
At present, NIBULON is an authoritative company in the international trade and economy system. According to General Director, Hero of Ukraine OleksiyVadaturskyy, NIBULON wouldn’t be successful in development of the company and economy of Ukraine without support of the international organizations and financial institutions, Embassies of the leading countries in the protection of business rights and ensuring access to the best financial institutions of the world.
In turn, the world community also responds with gratitude and respect. In August 2017, during the ceremony on the occasion of Swiss National Day in Kyiv, Guillaume Scheurer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Ukraine and Moldova, gave the William Tell Award to Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy on behalf of the Embassy for the fact that he has made a considerable contribution to Ukraine and has strengthened relations between Ukraine and Switzerland. In Swiss history, one hero personifies the quest for freedom, equality and democracy but also precision and perfection, William Tell. This is why his name was given to the Award the Swiss Embassy is giving to Ukrainians who have made considerable contributions to their own country and have strengthened the relations between Ukraine and Switzerland. The Ambassador of Switzerland named NIBULON a powerful engine of the Ukrainian economy.
In harmony with nature
NIBULON pays much attention to environmental aspects of its activities. The company works in harmony with nature, and it is an example of environmentally and socially responsible business in Ukraine. Each stage is implemented only after thorough examination of the impact on the environment and the interests of the community.
The company allocates considerable financial resources for the environment protection. In its multi-aspect activities, NIBULON constantly keeps to its main principles of successful business, the preservation of the environment and an active approach to the environment protection problems. The company implements its own environmental standards aimed at promoting environmentally friendly and responsible business. For example, a few months before inauguration of the high-tech transshipment terminal in Bilenke village (Zaporizhzhia region), NIBULON presented an important present to the village – a modern complex of treatment facilities worth UAH 10 million. The village has been on the edge of environmental disaster for more than 20 years: in the absence of sewerage treatment facilities, thousands of tons of untreated water from houses, a hospital, a school, and a penal colony have been discharged directly into the Dnipro River. This water was consumed by people living downstream.
Being a socially responsible company, NIBULON implements its own high ecological standard. As part of the standard, the company regularly takes measures to prevent natural resources deterioration. Fish stocking is one of the measures. The company has implemented compensatory measures to the amount of about UAH 2 million during the period of the investment project implementation. As a result, in 2009-2017, the company stocked the areas where the elevators were built (the Dnipro River, the Southern Buh River, the Kakhovka Reservoir, the Kaniv Reservoir, and the Kremenchuk Reservoir) with almost 50 tons of silver carp and carp.
At the beginning of November 2017, NIBULON performed one more stage of compensatory measures to reproduce bioresources, having stocked the Southern Buh River with more than 6 tons of herbivorous fish (silver carp, grass carp) and carp (25-35 g).
At the end of November, NIBULON performed one more stage of fish stocking of the Dnipro River in Hola Prystan town, where NIBULON’s new transshipment terminal was solemnly inaugurated in July 2017. NIBULON performed fish stocking in Kherson region by putting six-month fry of silver carp, grass carp and carp. It put 545,91 kg (average weight is 30 g) in the river.
These measures will have a positive impact on the preservation of the Dnipro River ecosystem. Conscious attitude towards nature is NIBULON’s standard.
Our team
In 2017, NIBULON is recognized as the best employer of the year in the nomination “Socially Responsible Employer”. The company is convinced that the success of the company starts with the success of each team member. The company appreciates its employees and feels responsible for each one. Every job is a formal employment (thus providing confidence in the future for employees’ families), social guarantees provided by the law, safe working conditions, a fair salary, and taxes; today they support the state budget and, in the future, they will guarantee pensions to employees.
Besides various social projects, the ones aimed at harmonious and inclusive development of every employee, the ones that develop not only the body but also the spirit are also priority projects for the company. In particular, sports competition is an example of how employees’ leisure becomes part of the company’s life, especially when it comes to sports. Sports competitions enable many persons to discover opportunities, discover new interests for them, and also team up, developing team skills.
Everybody knows that NIBULON is among few employers, employing graduates with no previous working experience. The program to select personnel and to train young specialists is aimed at development of personnel, training of senior staff of young specialists who are employed immediately after their graduation and acquired the necessary experience, got knowledge under the supervision of experienced employees able to teach peculiarities of professions and share their skills. After working under the supervision of experienced employees, young specialists are offered to move to work (and to live) in another area in a managerial position. When moving to a new place of work, employees are paid money and compensation is set for rental housing, cost of food is partially compensated. After 5 years of work in leading positions, at the request of a young specialist staying in the chosen region, housing is purchased at the expense of the company. To date, the company has already bought 60 flats and houses for its employees.
In 2017, the company started a new social project aimed at building dwellings for its employees. In particular, NIBULON built two houses worth of more than UAH 6.13 million and transferred them to employees of “Maryanivs’ka” branch in Hrebinka town (Poltava region). The company has already started to build two houses in Snihurivka town (Mykolaiv region), and has designed a house for four families in Hlobyne town (Poltava region).
NIBULON has been one of the most desirable workplaces for most students with high salary, appropriate working conditions, prospects for career development and professional improvement. NIBULON is always an important guest on career days and other professional events at leading universities of Ukraine. In September 2017, NIBULON had a very special role as the largest employer for the students of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, and NIBULON’s employees were invited to be the first to address the youth on the career day “Orientation of graduates of the southern Ukraine to the implementation of European standards and obtaining opportunities for professional development abroad”.
NIBULON promotes professional development of future specialists. The company’s facilities are very popular with teachers of educational institutions, students of agrarian, shipbuilding and other faculties. In 2017, students of Kherson State Agrarian University, teachers of geography and economics from Mykolaiv schools, as well as pupils from Mykolaiv comprehensive boarding school No. 6, foreign students from Admiral Makarov National Shipbuilding University visited NIBULON’s facilities. Such excursions for future specialists at the company’s facilities are held quite often, because real example is a guarantee of successful professional development of students.
Better future for everyone
We have a high goal – to increase the living standards of Ukrainians. We believe that the achievement of this will only be possible if everyone makes the most of their efforts. Every day NIBULON works for the benefit of Ukraine and for the community’s interests. We try to be an example and encourage others to build a socially responsible business in Ukraine.
Our company has been implementing NIBULON’s standard for more than 10 years. It is a project aimed at providing good conditions for education. In 2017, thanks to NIBULON, Mykolaiv schools No. 51, 57, 24 and No. 15 started a new school year with new projectors, televisions and column loudspeakers. School No. 7 received metal plastic windows, and Mykolaiv regional children’s home received an air conditioner from NIBULON. The company sponsors informative excursions for pupils and teachers of the city schools. NIBULON presented sports goods to 150 schools in Ukraine to make pupils not only educated, but also healthy.
In particular, for a school in Bilenke village (Zaporizhzhia region), where NIBULON built its transshipment terminal, the company presented a football pitch with a natural green covering and irrigation system, as well as a modern computer classroom.
In 2017, NIBULON revived passenger transportation by water in Ukraine. It is a social project for the company; it doesn’t contain profit. In addition, we produced and installed a floating berth at the Kinburn Spit worth about UAH 5 million at our own expense. Thus, this project allowed us not only to increase the tourist attractiveness of our city, but also to make comfortable and safe water transport available to the overwhelming majority of the citizens and guests of the city.
In just a few months we transported more than 24,000 passengers, including children, ATO participants, community activists, volunteers, human rights activists and others who took advantage of the services during charitable trips along the Dnipro River in Kyiv, Kaniv, Kremenchuk, Cherkasy and other cities. In Mykolaiv, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy personally gave tickets for a trip on the high-speed NIBULON Express passenger vessel to Voznesensk to children whose parents protect Ukraine in the ATO zone.
NIBULON provides a significant part of the assistance to educational and medical institutions within social agreements with town and village councils. The purpose of such agreements is to implement programs of social and economic development, preservation and enrichment of the traditions of the historical and cultural heritage, maintenance of infrastructure: repair of roads, renewal of street lightening, heat-, water-, gas-supply, assistance to cultural, educational and medical institutions, etc. The company’s machinery helps the public utilities to clear the roads and pavements from snow for free for ease of public transport and local citizens every year.
We plan to do more for our country, for its economic development, to improve the quality of life in every city and village. We want to inspire Ukraine by overcoming all obstacles and moving together towards a common goal – a strong and independent state.
