Oleh has been part of NIBULON for many years. His journey with the company began back in 2005. Life took him elsewhere for a while, but fate eventually brought him back. Today, Oleh works as a driver at the Prybuzhanivska branch
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, Oleh didn’t hesitate for a moment. On February 25, he volunteered to defend Ukraine. During his compulsory military service, he had already proven himself and earned the rank of Junior Sergeant. That’s why, after mobilization, he was entrusted with leading a squad in the 145th Mykolaiv Separate Repair and Recovery Regiment.
Oleh was discharged from the army in 2024. After returning home, he took a short break — just a few weeks to rest and spend time with his family.
Yet even in the silence, there was no peace.
“About a month after I got back, it started to hit me psychologically,” Oleh recalls. “In the army, you’re always on adrenaline, but once you come home, it catches up with you.”
Despite everything, he returned to work — to the place where his professional path once began. His colleagues welcomed him back quietly, without unnecessary questions.
The hardest part of returning to civilian life, Oleh admits, is loneliness: “I need to be around people. When I’m alone — that’s when it’s tough. Still is.”
His advice to other veterans is simple but powerful:
“Everyone’s situation is different, but I think it’s important not to isolate yourself. You need to talk to people. Loneliness eats you from the inside.”
After work, Oleh finds peace in everyday things — fixing, building, taking care of his home:
“When you live in a private house, there’s always something to do. I keep myself busy to stay distracted.”
When asked about his dream, he answers without hesitation:
“Just one dream — for war to end.”
Oleh is an example of a person who not only fulfilled his duty to his country but also found the strength to return, rebuild his life, and stay close to others. People like him remind us that true strength lies in simple acts — in loyalty, resilience, and the quiet courage to keep moving forward for the sake of the future.
