“In November NIBULON approached the grain export record”, informs Oleksandr Lepko, NIBULON’s transshipment terminal director. “We plan to finish the current half year and the whole 2013/14 marketing year with the record results. I am confident in our strength, as unity and purposefulness always helped us in achieving success”. It is impossible to argue about his words; despite NIBULON’s figures seem unachievable for most specialists of the sector, NIBULON’s team is not tired of demonstrating new records”.
For ten years Oleksandr Lepko has been working at one of the best industrial facilities in Ukraine. As a child he lived in a picturesque Trykraty village in Mykolayiv region, far away from industrial landscapes, “A grain grower was very much appreciated there. When I was in the sixth form, I started to attend our local grain product complex and helped my inhabitants. I dreamt of working at such a company, wanted to make a contribution to the development of our agriculture”. Many years later, on getting a job at NIBULON, Oleksandr managed to participate in the unique complex construction. At present celebrating the anniversary of his professional activity, Oleksandr Lepko recollects that in Ukraine as well as during business trips abroad he has never seen any facilities being better than NIBULON’s transshipment terminal.
Work never stops at the terminal. Every minute the specialists have to keep a finger on the pulse, controlling quality and efficiency of task performance. Oleksandr Lepko is certain there are no unattainable tasks for his team, as they work at the unique facility. “Just imagine: our terminal is able to take 7 different crops or crops of different quality and to store almost 130 thousand tons of agricultural products simultaneously. Grain stored in the spherical domes is protected from outside temperature fluctuations. Special equipment allows to control and stabilize inner temperature distantly.
“Our specialists control everything: from the first sample for laboratory analysis to grain shipment on board a vessel”, tells Andriy Arhypov, a senior foreman. “Our team is well coordinated and works as a single mechanism to reach records”.
Volodymyr Koval, a docker, works under the direction of Andriy Arhypov, “We have a lot of duties. I am responsible for rail transport unloading. Our record is 115 railcars per day! When working you realize that the efficiency of the terminal’s operation depends on you. I am proud of contributing to the common cause performed by NIBULON”.
Flexible and branched technological system of the terminal including about 600 routes allows to change freight traffic directions quickly and to direct them to grain storages or on board a vessel when taking from motor transport or railcars.
Here, at the berth, the stevedore team headed by Vitaliy Stradomskyy is responsible for agricultural commodity shipment. “Every day is different at the transshipment terminal”, tells Vitaliy. “It is a job by vocation, for those who can solve nonstandard tasks and tend to act. During seven years I have had an opportunity to work with specialists from tens of countries. Here you feel how NIBULON’s activities unite Ukraine with the whole world”.
“Our terminal is one of Ukraine’s best industrial facilities”, mentions Sergiy Filenko, deputy director of the transshipment terminal on administrative issues. “Visiting our terminal, foreign guests say they start to perceive Ukraine differently thanks to our company. What impresses them the most? The fact that even during harvest or a large amount of export, when our team demonstrates production records, you will never see dirt or garbage at the terminal; everything is clean and tidily here. The guests are impressed by beauty and industrial strength combined harmonically”.
Valentyna Dyka, a landscaping specialist, and her employees are responsible for “beauty” at the terminal. When the terminal was constructed we carried out enormous work. There are 120 types of plants at the terminal. What other Ukrainian industrial facilities can be compared with a blossoming garden? We often hear such a compliment from our foreign guests”.
Today the landscaping team is involved in another activity – providing NIBULON’s employees with vegetable production, “Fresh vegetables all year round, from own garden is a guarantee of health. Our landscaping department meets the requirements of the transshipment terminal’s café, growing fresh vegetables and greens in own greenhouse”.
“All employees do their best for the sake of common success”, thinks Sergiy Kalkutin, deputy director. “NIBULON has taught me to be purposeful, to achieve main goals. The transshipment terminal is a heart of NIBULON’s logistic system. The company’s success depends on our work!”
