Key tasks, functions of the fire safety service and history of its creation.
The history of our service numbers 5 years. In connection with the rapid development of NIBULON (including construction of new modern transshipment terminals and elevator complexes, creation of new production branches) it was necessary to create such a service that would organize and ensure fire safety at the company. Nowadays our main tasks are to organize complex measures to increase the fire safety level at the facilities of the company, to improve fire-fighting and preventive activities, to carry out scientific and technical policy on fire safety issues.
What key achievements of the fire safety service give the right to call NIBULON “fireproof”?
At present at the branches of the company there are 26 units of fire-fighting equipment (18 fire-extinguishing tankers, 1 automotive fire-fighting hydraulic lift, 1 water truck used for fire-fighting, 6 monoblock pumps). NIBULON’s fire-fighting units are always ready to help people, participating in fire-fighting operations both in human settlements and in woodlands. According to the results of the 10th All-Ukrainian rating of the security service professionalism, in 2013 the company won “Gold Diploma”. High level of safety is confirmed by many honorary diplomas, articles in the scientific and production magazines such as Fire Safety, Labour Protection and Fire Safety, Fire and Technogenic Safety, letters of gratitude from local bodies of self-government, but the most important achievement is fire prevention at NIBULON’s branches during many years.
Plans of the fire safety service for 2014-2015. What innovations will be implemented?
Taking into consideration constant development of the company, our main task is to ensure fire and technogenic safety at all branches.  This will be promoted, in particular, by further study and ensuring of changes in the current legislation norms as to fire safety and also the implementation of modern technologies. The company’s management and our service have planned the further implementation of modern automatic fire-fighting systems, and also ensuring of automatic fire alarm maintenance at 28 branches of the company. Besides, in future there will be solved issues to provide NIBULON’s branches with operable fire-fighting equipment (by purchasing, repairing, inspecting more than 3,800 fire-extinguishers).
What things has NIBULON taught you and what your team has contributed to the company?
Due to our teamwork, at present NIBULON has a number of professional licenses, tens of approved projects on fire protection and lightning protection; there are carried out trainings on basic fire-engineering knowledge and others.
During 2013 there was carried out on-the-job trainings on basic fire-engineering knowledge for 810 employees at 30 branches and structural subdivisions, issuing standard certification. Besides, during this period the specialists of the service have developed 25 fire safety projects at 11 branches. The total area of the adapted and approved constructions (according to the acts of provided services) is 10,545 square meters.

Is your job considered to be men’s and not woman’s?
This work can be performed by women no worse than by men and sometimes even better. Work of our service is directed to fire prevention, as it is easy to prevent a fire than to fight with it. Such work is within the power of everyone.
If 101 is a phone number of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine, what phone number your service has? Should NIBULON’s employees remember it?
Certainly, they should not. Thank God, we do not have emergency situations; it is not necessary to worry too much. Thus, we are not busy with calls as the Ministry of Emergency Situations is. And this fact makes us happy.
Tell about the importance of control and prevention carried out by your service.
Consequences of fires and accidents at the facilities for processing and storage of crops can be disastrous, bring huge material losses, injuries. Taking into consideration previous experience of both foreign and domestic companies, our company has formulated priority task, namely absolute prevention of fires and emergency situations.

What would you like to wish your colleagues?
We would like to wish all our branches and team “dry hoses” and calm duty which will mean everything is fine without any fire accidents.
Your professional omens.
Going on business trips, we never say good-bye. And we also like to repeat each other that cold mind is more important than cold water.
Does theory or practice dominate in your job?
At present, taking into account constant changes of the current legislation, practical activity is impossible without studying theory. Any practical training is based on theory. It is difficult to choose whether theory or practice dominates, but, actually, we have more theory that leads to absence of fire accidents in practice.

What are the requirements for an applicant?
Firstly, these are not physical and psychological requirements, but desire and ability to work, professional skills, cold and rational mind, analytical thinking and endurance. And we teach other things.
How do you understand a phrase “to sleep like a fireman”?
A real fireman sleeps not more than four hours being dressed and ready for action on duty. Consequently, this phrase can not be taken seriously. In general, each member of our team is responsible for his direction of activity and even when he sleeps. If case of need we go on business trips any day and at any time!
Have you fulfilled yourself at NIBULON?
Completely! I think people implement themselves while they are living. Consequently, I have no intention to stop. Besides, the company is developing and improving constantly, and we must keep pace with it.
