“World food security depends on Ukraine”, stressed Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk last week during his visit to “Reshetylivs’ka” branch of NIBULON in Zhovtneve village, having had a working visit to Poltava region. “We are one of the key players. And Ukraine’s Government plans, consisting in Ukraine’s leadership positions on the food market together with other countries of the world, such as the USA, a number of the EU countries, Canada, will be implemented.
The Head of Government was convinced of that due to modern NIBULON’s elevator, the first elevator out of 10 ones constructed by the company to store and ship grain and oil crops. The elevator’s history dated from 2006, when the first order was put into operation, and the second one – in less than a year. The powerful elevator complex equipped with equipment produced by the USA can dry 3 thousand tons of grain per day, clean 2 thousand tons and ship more than 3.5 thousand tons on rail transport.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk was particularly interested in NIBULON’s laboratories with modern equipment, where grain analyses by world standards are carried out. For example, fully automated analysis of corn lasts up to 15 minutes. Arseniy Yatsenyuk even had time to “work” as a laboratory assistant, and signed an analysis card on his “career” completion. He directly participated in the process of grain truck unloading, familiarized with the technologies to store grain and oil crops. Prime Minister was interested in modern efficient dust trapping equipment of the best European manufacturers installed at NIBULON’s facilities.
During his visit Prime Minister made a note of serious problem which the company is facing now. There is a lack of rail cars for shipping grain. Recently, Ukrzaliznytsya has ensured only 4   railway rolling stocks instead of 40 announced. Results are negative for all partners: vessels for grain shipment for export lie idle; agricultural producers lose money as well as the company. Arseniy Yatsenyuk assured that he would give instructions to solve this problem. According to him, from grain export alone, Ukraine is expecting USD 2 billion till the end of the year.
Prime Minister mentioned that food production is one of the key engines to develop Ukraine’s economy. “If the total export from Ukraine has increased by 19%, then increase in agricultural commodity export comprises 32% taking into consideration that Russian market has been considerably lost; export of poultry meat and by-products has reduced by 81%, oil – by 50%. But we replaced Russian markets having reorientated to the European Union and other countries of the world. Selling of poultry meat has increased from 30 to 100 percent; oil export has expanded due to procurement to India, the Netherlands, Iran, Spain, Malaysia, and Great Britain…
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also noted high competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural commodities on the European and world markets. Ukraine has already used quotas for delivery of honey, grape juices, wheat, flour, corn to the EU; quotas for meat and semi-products, cereals, tomatoes have been used by 72-78%. “I am waiting for the European Parliament decision as to continuation of autonomous preferences for Ukrainian products”, he stressed.
