We should follow the example of European and North American countries with a highly developed bicycle culture. It is a new trend helping to overcome traffic jams and improve the environment and physical health of people. The attempts to implement such projects in Mykolayiv city look like virtual reality now.
NIBULON was one of the first to start implementing such a project, having installed a convenient bicycle parking at its own NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard. “During his visit to the facility, NIBULON’s General Director mentioned that the absence of parking spaces made workers who ride bicycles leave them under the trees and at the workshops”, tells Volodymyr Zhmur, deputy director at the shipyard. “Thus, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy set a task to make a bicycle parking as quickly as possible in order to improve labour conditions of our employees. NIBULON’s specialists have developed a bicycle parking design to park 20 bicycles.”
It should be noted that Oleksiy Vadaturskyy’s idea was positively supported by the team, “When discussing the project, we had 7 cyclists. At the moment of installing the bicycle parking, the cyclist number increased to 10 people. There are 17 cyclists at present. This figure increases day by day”, continues Volodymyr Zhmur. “The bicycle parking is reliably protected from atmospheric precipitations to ensure comfort and cleanness in all weathers. The bicycles are constantly protected by the guard.”
This NIBULLON’s initiative is far from the last one. At present the company’s management is planning to install bicycle parking facilities both at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard and NIBULON’s office (9-B Faleyevska Str.). The specialists are developing bicycle parking designs for the company’s office (63 Velyka Morska Str.) as well as the transshipment terminal.
