Pupils (8th and 10th forms) from Mykolayiv comprehensive secondary school No.19 visited the terminal this time. Instead of a pile of different materials and grey peeling walls at manufacturing facilities as they used to imagine, the guests saw the industrial design, cleanness and tidiness in the territory as well as many trees and flower-beds.
The excursion traditionally started with the transport registration point. The transport delivers grain from suppliers. The pupils observed sampling to analyze product quality. And the production and technological and chemical-technological laboratories, being equipped with up-to-date equipment, demonstrated scientific research with grain.
Probably, the guests imagined grain handling in the following way: the truck delivered grain, unloaded it, and then grain was shipped. But Vyacheslav Sizov, an economist of the economic analysis and planning department, understandably told the pupils about flow and transport system of grain movement and the unique equipment at the terminal, and they started to ask questions. The visitors were particularly interested in the domes (grain storages), technology of their construction and operation.
It would seem that pupils are not interested in the household and service conditions at the terminal. But it is not true. The guests asked about water treatment technology at the facility. They were surprised to discover that the terminal had its own garden with onion, dill, parsley and a greenhouse to grow vegetables the whole year round. The terminal’s cafeteria receives these products.
