On April 20 Ukraine will celebrate the Environment Day. In times of globalization and technological progress the problem of personal attitude to the environment protection becomes more topical today. This issue also concerns business circles where ecological expediency replaces social indifference. One of the successful examples of environmentally-conscious business in Ukraine is NIBULON’s activities: “Our company allocates considerable financial resources to limit effect of NIBULON’s production processes on the environment”, tells Alla Izmesteva, a head of the environmental protection department, “The management and each worker realize the importance and necessity to carry on activities with minimal effects on the environment”. Alla Izmesteva and her employees of the environmental protection department are responsible for implementation of NIBULON’s environmental policy and for production activity control: “We cover all directions of the company’s activities, our work is connected with work of all departments and structural subdivisions”, says Tetyana Babych, “We need to develop ourselves constantly, broaden our mind, familiarize ourselves with normative base”. The environmental protection department was one of the initiators to create a new chemical and technological laboratory which Accreditation Certificate allows to monitor atmospheric air, water environment and soils. Production control of efficiency of dust-trapping equipment and environment condition allows to minimize effect of NIBULON’s activities on the environment.  According to Alla Izmesteva, the main department achievement is formation of environmental culture, “Both in Mykolayiv city and in other our branches the workers take recycling very seriously. The company allocates considerable funds for recycling, planting of trees, fish stocking and other projects directed to the environment protection and preservation. At present people in all our branches and in NIBULON’s central office drink purified water – it is also an achievement to be felt by everyone. Our General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy is an initiator to reduce influence of NIBULON’s activities on the environment”. Today NIBULON wants not only to preserve the environment, but also to invent new ecologically reasonable ways of production development. At present the company implements the unique investment project to revive navigation on the Dnipro River and other rivers of Ukraine. Construction of river terminals and elevator complexes, creation of own fleet allow to reduce motor transport cargo turnover in order to preserve the environment. “At the same time we perform measures against natural resources exhaustion. Fish stocking is the main form of such measures”, tells Sergiy Zanozdra, a design engineer. The company performed fish stocking under his supervision, “When 100 thousand silver carps appear in a reservoir – it impresses, you feel your contribution, your company’s contribution to preserve and to increase those resources provided by nature”. Sergiy came to NIBULON six years ago after graduating from Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. Firstly he worked at NIBULON’s transshipment terminal, then he was transferred to the environmental protection department. Last year he became a member of Guild of Designers, an independent All-Ukrainian union, being engaged in protection of interests of specialists and development and improvement of the legislation. NIBULON became the first workplace for Olena Burlak, an economist of the department, “During my university studies I underwent production training here. I was impressed by labour organization, pace and level of NIBULON’s work. Thus, I set a goal to work here after graduating from the university. And I was not mistaken: it is an interesting experience, new achievements. Our department’s activities are directed to preservation and renewal of natural resources. Thus, for example, I am responsible for calculation and preparation of the “Environmental Tax Declaration” by each branch and elevator in whole. These funds are accumulated by the budget for important goals: to finance events directed to the environment protection, to use natural resources rationally, to raise the level of environmental safety. NIBULON is one of the promptest taxpayers of environmental tax in the country”. “The company is an example of complex and systematic treatment of protection and preservation of the environment”, tells Tetyana Babych, “My previous work was connected with development of nature conservation documentation, but here I saw ecological principles in action. My work is related to activities of NIBULON’s production branches, elevators, our fleet. It is always new impressions and real opportunities to make own contribution to the environment preservation”. According to Iryna Kolesnichenko, an environmental protection engineer, NIBULON is not only new impressions and interesting work but also stability and prestige. Iryna has a great experience in ecological sphere. For ten years she has worked at Mykolayiv shipyard “Okean”. She was the only ecologist there, in NIBULON she works in a big team, “Each worker of our department has a huge amount of work, but everyone has definite goals and sphere of activity. We have a friendly team. Everyone is ready to give a hint and to help. This support is very important when, for example, implementing several difficult and long-term projects”. The team work and relax together – they have a great time and celebrate holidays together. They also participate in the events directed to the environment preservation. “One of the brightest recollections is park creation in Shostakove village (Mykolayiv region)”, tells Sergiy Zanozdra, “There were planted above 12 thousand seedlings. Together with workers of NIBULON’s department we took part in this important activity. The inhabitants, pupils were engaged in this event. Everyone contributed to solving the environment protection problem. It is vey important that our work not only helps nature but also stimulates other people to follow the example of our company”. NIBULON looks after park that was planted last year. The environmental protection department and NIBULON’s team encourage not to wait, but to take care of the environment. The Environment Day is a good opportunity for every Ukrainian to participate in beautification of own territories.
