Economic Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine David Meale, “NIBULON contributes to Ensuring of Food Security in the World”

On June 10, 2013, NIBULON’s transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv city was visited by Economic Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine David Meale and Diplomat of the Economic Department Christopher Greller. The meeting was held within the framework of their working visit to Mykolayiv region. At the terminal NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy met David Meale and Christopher Greller. He familiarized the guests with the company’s activities, its successes and prospects of development. Accentuating his attention on product quality, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy stressed that NIBULON was the only participant of the UN World Food Program in Ukraine. Within this program, since 2008 the company has shipped 45 vessels, which is almost 800 thousand tons of high-quality food grain. It was delivered to starving people of Pakistan, South Korea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Bangladesh, Palestine, and Mauritania. In 2012/13 marketing year NIBULON has won two tenders of the UN World Food Program and delivered 9.8 thousand tons of food wheat to Mauritania and 10 thousand tons of sorghum to Kenya. Participation in such programs allows the company to strengthen and increase a positive image of not only NIBULON, but also Ukraine in whole. Highly appreciating NIBULON’s achievements David Meale mentioned, “Things we have seen today exceed all expectations. Reasoning and deliberateness at each level of NIBULON’s agribusiness are striking. Your agribusiness impresses with its high world standards. It is a precise system that ensures high efficiency at each stage. Today agriculture is a locomotive of Ukraine’s economy. Ukraine is rich in its black earth cultivated by professional and skilled people. Ukraine has a huge potential to develop the agricultural sector which can be implemented by creating attractive investment climate and providing support to agrarian companies. Thus, the role of your country must increase in the world and world markets taking into account that NIBULON has been playing an important role in ensuring of food security in the whole world”. “It is pleasant that NIBULON’s branches are visited by representatives of embassies and governments of different countries. Today the delegation of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine including David Meale and Christopher Greller has visited us. It is pleasant that when our company faces some difficulties, representatives of foreign governments contact us immediately in order to specify the situation, to help, and to support. During preceding years embassies of other countries were the first to stand up for interests of our company”, stressed Oleksiy Vadaturskyy. During the meeting the guests familiarized themselves with the terminal’s production process, observed production capacities, including NIBULON’s fleet, came on board a non-self-propelled vessel, etc. While observing tug fleet, the visitors viewed accommodations, an engine room, and a deck cabin. When familiarizing themselves with the new laboratory and administrative building, including laboratory, the guests paid attention to equipment produced by the USA. Oleksiy Vadaturskyy noted that in the USA there are high standards of grain quality control achieved both by high level of technical equipment and skill level of employees. American experience is recognized worldwide. NIBULON goes with the times; thus, only the world’s best equipment and best practices are used in the laboratories. The guests were impressed by scientific and technological level and organization of grain quality control. They were impressed by the fact that the laboratories at our terminal perform not only grain analysis, but also determine flour and bread quality, GMO presence, micotoxins and heavy metals content, carry out analyses of soil, water and air. We would remind you that diplomats of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine visited NIBULON’s facilities several times and our bilateral contacts have already become a tradition. Thus, in August 2011 the former Counselor for Economic Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine Chever Voltmer visited NIBULON’s transhipment terminals in Mykolayiv city and Nova Odesa town. In December 2011 Diplomat of the Economic Department of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine Alex Ryan participated in a solemn opening of “Denyhivs’ka” branch. Agricultural Attaché Randall Hager took part in a solemn commencement of construction of the transshipment terminal of “Pereyaslavs’ka” branch (April 2012) and its solemn commissioning (July 2012) was held with participation of the former Deputy Economic Counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv Elizabeth Horst.
