Many people recollected a snowstorm in 2014, compared, praised or criticized city and regional authorities. Those who support authorities – praise, and those who are in opposition to them – criticize.
Taking into consideration news from local mass-media, the authorities at all levels aimed to persuade people to stay at home and businessmen to organize a day off at their companies, instead of struggling with snowfall and encouraging people to join clearing the city and villages.
The information campaign was surprisingly “successful”: everybody, except some conscious citizens, was waiting for the snow to be removed. Having heard the announcement about the day off because of bad weather, public utilities did not start to remove snow in time.
As a result, on Tuesday, after the snowstorm subsided, people saw snowdrifts in the streets, snow-covered yards and pavements (they had to walk along roadways, being exposed to danger). Then, they were waiting for transport for a long time.

European cities face the same snowfalls, but they do not paralyze operation of companies, educational institutions and the entire cities. Many years ago, NIBULON’s General Director Oleksiy Vadaturskyy was invited to Germany by an owner of one of the companies. Oleksiy Vadaturskyy was surprised at seeing this person clear snow and pour sand near his house at 4 a.m. He told that if someone would injure himself slipping near the porch, the house owner would be responsible for it (in terms of compensation allowance for treatment). Thus, he always keeps all the required equipment in his utility room to clear snow from the territory near the house.
In Germany every house owner (the very house owner and not the residents) must clear snow from pavements (not less than 1.5 m width). Thus, if a person owns several houses, he has to remove snow near all his houses. The state even sets time, when pavements must be cleared. Public utilities clear snow from main roads and then from subordinate ones, involving citizens in assisting them. Everybody knows what to do. All actions are well-coordinated; roads are clear. The city lives its ordinary life.
The experience obtained by NIBULON’s General Director was skillfully implemented at the company. NIBULON practiced the developed procedure at all its 43 production branches across Ukraine. Bad weather did not catch the company unawares.
On January 16, as weather deteriorated, NIBULON created a team to eliminate snowstorm consequences. The company prepared snow-removal machines, oils and lubricants, shovels, brushes, sand, appointed persons setting a task before everyone.
The team has been working since 6 a.m., January 17. It is headed by Oleksandr Lepko who organizes snow removal from Zavodskyy district without days off. During this period, the company cleared snow and ice not only from its territories but also from other highways in the city and region.
First of all, the company’s machinery cleared access roads to social facilities, in particular to Mykolayiv emergency hospital. Mykolayiv authorities consider that if someone performs work responsibly, he is obliged to do it in future. The same thing happened to NIBULON. Last year the Deputy Governor Mykola Romanchuk asked NIBULON to remove snow near Mykolayiv emergency hospital. We agreed taking into consideration the situation. This year it turned out to be our duty. It seems there are no other companies in Mykolayiv. One must not forget the night club located on the opposite side of the street.
NIBULON proved again that it is not only the budget revenue generating company, but also it can support budget organizations. “The company has been assisting us for the second consecutive year. Last year the hospital did not have any snow removal machinery, and NIBULON helped us removing snow”, said Oleksandr Demyanov, a head doctor from Mykolayiv emergency hospital.

Our company has also cleared snow from the road near Zavodskyy district administration. It turned out that NIBULON assisted officials to get to work, and now they are waiting for someone to remove snow.

The company involved a total of 7 units of machinery (two Volvo tractors, MAZ-5337 excavator, two KAMAZ, etc.) and more than 160 employees from the transshipment terminal, shipping company and NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard.

Employees from NIBULON’s central office were also involved in removing snow. Thus, more than 50 office employees with equipment cleared snow from the territories near NIBULON’s offices at the corner of Lyagina and Velyka Morska Streets, Faleyevska and Velyka Morska Streets, as well as Pushkinska and Velyka Morska Streets. Upon completion, they poured reagents in order to avoid rime.

NIBULON’s employees at its production branches located in the territory of Mykolayiv region, in particular in Snigurivka, Bashtanka, Vradiyivka, Voznesensk, Domanivka and Nova Odesa districts, actively cleared snow from roads. They involved 12 units of machinery. Thus, for example, NIBULON cleared the way to Novoegorivka village in Bashtanka district, in Voznesensk district – to Novosilka, Martynivka and Prybuzhany villages. NIBULON’s branch continues clearing snow from the streets in Prybuzhany village. “Novoodes’ka” branch employees were involved in clearing roads in Nova Odesa town. Thus, they cleared more than 7 km of roads, in particular Krupska, Zhovtnya, Komsomolska, Poshtova, Komarova, Torgova Streets. The way from Lidiyivka village to Domanivka which is more than 15 km of roads, were cleared only by “RE “Lidiyivske” branch employees. They removed snow in Lidiyivka and Goryanka villages. At present the company continues clearing snow from roads.

When clearing roads to Domanivka village, NIBULON’s machinery helped two parturient women to get to the Central district hospital. We are glad that NIBULON’s assistance saved health and life of little Ukrainians and their mothers.

The company is sure that the regional economy cannot stop every time the weather changes. Snow in winter, rain in autumn, heat in summer. Our companies must work, people must get to work, and municipal authorities must ensure efficient operation of public utilities, so that our country may be successful.
The citizens must realize that the state is each of us, and we are responsible for its future. Today you are waiting for someone to perform your work, and tomorrow you are facing snowdrifts and are waiting for transport for hours. If you want to get to work in time, remove snow from your own yard.
NIBULON works normally all these days; its employees work according to individual schedule. The employees are transported according to transportation schedule. European partners would not understand NIBULON on hearing that the snow prevented the company from working.
