The specialists finish assembling the last floor of the headhouse at the construction site; they have started plating it. The builders are mounting the last two silos (No. 18 and 19).
The specialists finish constructing the berth, which was particularly difficult at this construction site and caused the builders troubles. Ukrdobrobud Ltd. (Kyiv) and Altra Invest Ltd. (Odesa) work around the clock there. Altogether, more than 70 specialists perform the tasks despite the difficult weather conditions.
“Even water level fluctuation caused by change in the wind direction can affect the process of the berth construction. But even this factor doesn’t prevent us from performing works according to schedule”, said an engineer in construction supervision at NIBULON’s capital construction department Oleksandr Litvinov. ¨According to the technology, when constructing a berth, at first a lower plate is constructed. To this end, it is necessary to make formwork. The project design provides for welding at a level of 10-15 cm above the water. But if the direction of the wind changes and causes the rise in the water level by 20-25 cm, it is impossible to perform such work. Plus the weather conditions, plus ice that must be broken in order not to stop the construction process. Despite all these obstacles, our builders are doing everything to ensure the construction completion to a good quality and according to schedule¨.
We would remind you that the length of the cargo berth will be increased to 222 m. Due to this, the total length of waterside at the transshipment terminal will comprise almost 800 m, thereby enabling it to serve up to five vessels simultaneously.
