The main purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the work of the transshipment terminal and learn about all the process with grain on the way to its exports. Therefore, an excursion started from the transport registration point, where the students were told about the full cycle of processing of each truck and how samples are taken to determine product quality. The terminal’s facilities enable it to receive products both from rail and water transport at the same time.
The three-story laboratory and administrative building equipped with laboratory and research equipment of the highest world standards was the next stop. The young people familiarized themselves with the process of determining quality and scientific researches with grain and processed products. Then the guests were shown the weighing station and were told about the specifics of its work.
NIBULON’s specialists paid particular attention to the grain storage capacities. The students were very enthusiastic about the well-known domes (grain storages) with a capacity of 50,000 tons and diameter of 65 m each. They are interesting because they ensure a unique technology of high-quality grain storage. The domes guarantee a unique technology of high-quality grain storage. Unlike traditional concrete silos, the surfaces of NIBULON’s grain storages are protected with insulating polyurethane film, foam, thereby ensuring that each facility operates according to a “thermos” principle, protecting products from outside temperature fluctuation. The dome material properties prevent condensation inside the grain storage. NIBULON’s transshipment terminal is the only terminal in Ukraine with such capabilities.
The company’s specialists also told the visitors about NIBULON’s new elevator complex for shipment of grain and oilseeds with a capacity of 43,000 tons, which was put into operation in May 2018. It allows the company to store 10 crops separately and simultaneously. And the reconstructed cargo berth, which was extended in May 2018, enables the company to handle up to five vessels at a time, significantly optimizing the terminal’s operation. At present the waterside at the transshipment terminal is almost 800 m long.
The excursion at the shipbuilding yard was a logical continuation of the acquaintance with NIBULON. The shipyard’s specialists acquainted the students with the progress of the shipbuilding program and the reconstruction, showed new production workshops, having told about the specifics of each one. The guests also had an opportunity to see the process of vessel construction, in particular the construction of a legendary NIBULON MAX self-propelled vessel.
“I didn’t expect that NIBULON is so big… Such scales indicate that we will have jobs and this gives confidence in the future. I was very impressed by your laboratory. We don’t usually see how samples are taken and how grain is tested in accordance with world and Ukrainian standards. And that’s very important for us, as for future technologists”, said Daria, a student.
The excursion was really interesting and informative, and the guests were sincerely grateful. It is especially pleasant that NIBULON managed to inspire young people for future professional accomplishments; and the majority seeks to achieve them with us.
“I have read the news about NIBULON and my parents have told about it. They said that NIBULON is a successful enterprise known not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. It was said that many people seek to work at your company, because there is a constant opportunity for professional development. Having familiarized myself with the work of the transshipment terminal, I also want to try my hand at this enterprise. The things I have heard and seen really inspire me. Such comfortable working conditions, competitive wages, modern equipment, progressiveness in everything, and most importantly – you stake on youth… I would like to work at your company. When I become a senior student, I will definitely send my CV to undergo practical training”, confidently summed up Nina, a student.
