The water level in the estuary catastrophically falls every year. The only sea gate was an artificial strait which was deposited with sand from storms and required artificial cleaning. Due to its silted condition, so-iuy mullet that entered the estuary in spring for spawning was stuck in shallow water and died because of lack of sea water. Last autumn, more than 20 thousand units of so-iuy mullet died. The losses amounted to about UAH 20 million. This year, head of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Kostiantyn Bryl asked NIBULON to help. The company immediately agreed to help and today it rescues the region from the environmental disaster caused by inactivity of local officials.
The dredger’s crew (Volodymyr Tkachenko, Andrii Kryvoshein, Denys Seleznov, Ihor Rybachenko) had a task to dig the canal up to 2 m and to about 680 m in length in order to join the Molochnyi Estuary with the Sea of Azov and to free fish. NIBULON successfully copes with the task set and works round the clock. The specialists have already dug more than 400 m. Every day, this process is controlled by regional director Volodymyr Horishnyi. In two days NIBULON will complete the Molochnyi Estuary dredging, and so-iuy mullet will eventually reach the sea.
This is a very important mission for NIBULON as the company is always involved in solving urgent issues of the community, including investing in projects aimed at improving the environmental situation. Solving the environmental problem in the Molochnyi Estuary is controlled by a People’s Deputy of Ukraine Serhii Valentyrov and First Deputy Head of the State Fisheries Agency Volodymyr Falei.
