Schoolgirls from Mykolaiv comprehensive secondary school No.26 visited NIBULON. This year, the school participates in the All-Ukrainian “STEM Girls” program which aims at awakening interest among girls in science, machinery, engineering, and mathematics.
Thus, as part of the “Girls in Technology” event, the guests familiarized themselves with the modern Ukrainian shipyard, one of the few Ukrainian enterprises to construct complete vessels, and communicated with various specialists.
At the beginning, NIBULON’s specialists described the principles of the shipyard’s operation, its reconstruction as well as the shipbuilding program implementation.
The shipbuilders explained the shipyard’s production capacities to the girls. The guests inspected a metal storage area with a capacity to store 10,000 tons of metal simultaneously, a metal cleaning and priming area with Rösler preservation line, a metal processing workshop, an assembly and sectional workshop, as well as a new insulation equipment warehouse (sound insulation, fireproof insulation, etc.) and a paints and varnishes warehouse.
The schoolgirls were particularly impressed by the NIBULON MAX vessel, which has been recently put into operation . The pupils listened with great interest to its construction process and high capacities.
The visitors also paid attention to the clean territory, numerous green spaces, and a parking place for bicycles.
“We were particularly impressed by the shipyard’s territory in Mykolaiv, a number of modern workshops, and up-to-date shipbuilding equipment. It is really a unique excursion for us and a good opportunity to learn the vessel construction process and of shipbuilding jobs in Mykolaiv”, shared Sophia, a pupil.
