SALIC has operated since 2012. It is owned by the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is the second meeting of the companies’ representatives. The first stage of the negotiations took place in Switzerland.
NIBULON, as well as Ukraine, is interested in export markets. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest importers of barley and wheat in the world, and NIBULON has a successful experience of exporting agricultural products to this country. In view of this, the main topic of the negotiations was the development of cooperation aimed at ensuring the food security of Saudi Arabia and its partners.
In particular, Christian Joerg shared SALIC experience of investing in the development of the logistics system for grain transportation. Taking into account the fact that NIBULON is the world-famous grain market leader in Ukraine, the largest Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia couldn’t help but pay attention to the company’s achievements in the development of the best logistics infrastructure in Ukraine. The Fund intends to develop logistics system, to construct elevator complexes with NIBULON, as well as to cooperate on the issues of the land bank expansion in Ukraine.
In addition, Christian Joerg noted the high level of labour organization and equipment installed at NIBULON’s transshipment terminal and at its shipbuilding and repair yard in Mykolaiv. He was especially impressed with the terminal’s modern laboratory, which is equipped with the best equipment of the world’s leading manufacturers. Christian Joerg was able to appreciate the progress of NIBULON’s investment project implementation: construction of the complex for shipment of grain and oilseeds as part of the transshipment terminal, reconstruction of the shipyard’s facilities, plus fleet construction.
The guest was also very interested in NIBULON’s shipbuilding program. He noted the high labour intensity at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard and the level of orders construction. Christian Joerg visited NIBULON’s unique St. Mykolai floating crane, which is involved in reconstructing the slipway.
Christian Joerg stressed that it is a unique case when the agricultural company has its own shipbuilding yard and constructs its fleet. In his opinion, it is necessary to have a modern fleet, elevator complexes and shipbuilding capacities in order to be a leader in the agrarian sector of Ukraine.
As a result of the meeting, a further plan to establish relations between two companies was discussed, in particular plans to export Ukrainian agricultural products to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. It is expected that management of SALIC and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia will visit NIBULON.
