At present, with the support of leading international financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard is undergoing another stage of reconstruction. It provides for the construction of central warehouses for insulation equipment (sound, fire-resistant insulation of vessels, etc.) and paints and varnishes. The works on installation of a foundation pit, foundations, construction of external concrete and internal brick walls have been completed. The specialists have started to mount a metal framework. In total, eight contracting organizations are involved in constructing the warehouses. It is planned to put the shipyard’s facilities into operation on December 1, 2018.
We would remind you that during 2012-2016 the first stage of reconstruction took place at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard. In the process of reconstruction, the slipway and quay were repaired; the cranes were renewed (new cranes and beam cranes were purchased) and the existing units were refurbished; the technical facilities were renewed (new tools and welding machines were purchased), the European level of working conditions was provided (all the workplace facilities were repaired, a recreation zone was created, a bicycle parking was installed).
From 2017, as part of cooperation between the Ukrainian company and the international financial institutions, the second stage of the reconstruction is being implemented. During this stage, a warehouse of shipboard equipment and two new modern workshops were built, namely a metal processing workshop equipped with modern devices from the world’s leading manufacturers and an assembly and fabrication workshop equipped with four radio controlled overhead cranes with a capacity of 10 tons each, as well as with welding equipment. The inauguration of the last one took place on May 23, 2018 in the presence of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
In order to construct and perform maintenance of longer and more complex vessels, NIBULON has reconstructed the slipway. At the beginning of 2018, two additional launching ways were built, which makes it possible to construct complete vessels of 100 m (two such vessels have already been launched). In the near future NIBULON plans to construct six more launching ways, which will enable the specialists to perform maintenance of complete vessels of 140 m.
