The training will last 4 weeks and will allow NIBULON deminers to acquire such practical skills as reconnaissance and information gathering, operational planning, preparing the machine for work, mastering standard operating procedures for the GCS-200, practical application of the mechanical asset of the machine, work with T-200 tiller and F-200 flail attachments, use of GCS-200 remote control device, control of the machine using the camera system, safe evacuation of the demining machine, maintenance of the GCS-200 machine and its attachments, medical assistance.
As GCS operations technical advisor Lourie Venter noted, training in field conditions is essential to further effective machine demining because it gives the students more hands-on experience using a variety of equipment. At the theoretical classes, the students received the necessary knowledge. Now, during the practical phase, they will put them into practice, improving their skills.
Vladyslav Hryhoriev, the humanitarian demining quality engineer of NIBULON, who is also undergoing training, emphasized that practical training allows you to feel the work process and understand all the intricacies of the method in conditions close to real ones. It is also a good opportunity to consult with GCS instructors on important practical issues and to work out in advance the procedure in case of possible difficulties during field work.
After deminers undergo training, NIBULON aims to obtain the state-issued certificate for mechanical demining, which allows Nibulon to demine dozens of hectares of fields every month independently and with minimal risk to the life of the operator and provide services to all interested agricultural producers and communities.
It should be noted that NIBULON will receive in total 4 demining machines, each of which can demine an area equal to one football field every day. FYI, today the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has only 15 such demining machines. Therefore, the signing of the grant contract between NIBULON and DEG Impulse gGmbH, with the assistance of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and German State Development Bank (KFW DEG), significantly strengthens the demining system and is of such great importance for Ukraine in the direction of cleaning its lands.
