After traditional inspection of all buildings NIBULON’s Manager told that he is satisfied with the pace of construction,
“It was a pleasure to come here on the eve of a huge holiday and make sure that the construction organizations we cooperate with appreciate our cooperation, perform all works in time, according to schedule, and efficiently. Today I have made certain that this terminal will have been built by June 1. Then there will be a solemn opening with the participation of all builders we’ve worked with and locals.
The first facility of the new high-tech terminal – a weighing station – has already been built. It will be furnished soon, new workplaces will be prepared. The specialists have started finishing work at other buildings: at an administrative and laboratory complex, a canteen, a transformer substation, a workshop with a garage, and a fire station. The finishing work should have been completed by May 20.
The builders keep up with other processes and construct a building for people on business trip, which is located near the river. ARTIL-BUD Ltd. (Mykolaiv) is responsible for its construction and finishing work using only high-quality and more expensive materials.
In addition to above-mentioned works, the contractors are installing water distribution and sewage systems. In general, there will be installed about 3 km of sewage systems and 94 sanitary sewers at the construction site.
SYMAGA S.A. metalware for silos (Spain) will be delivered to the construction site in Hola Prystan at the end of April; storage capacity of these silos comprises 76 thousand tons. Thus, from May 1, the number of people involved in constructing will increase by 500 specialists who are going to mount these silos.
“There is no one to criticize. Mostly all contractors work according to schedule”, summed up the meeting Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
Regarding passenger transportation residents of Kherson and Mykolaiv region have been recently more interested in, NIBULON’s General Director reported that the company’s specialists were doing their best to start scheduled trips along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River from May 1.
“There will be scheduled trips by the route Kherson – Hola Prystan – Kovalivka – the Kinburn Spit from May 1. The trips to Skadovsk are also possible”, commented on this issue Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
He also added that the company received requests on organization of passenger transportation by sea between Odesa and resorts of Kherson region.
As for tickets, NIBULON’s Manager assured that they would not be more expensive than bus tickets. However, adoption of the draft law No. 2475a “On inland water transport” in current version will have negative impact on development of inland waterways of Ukraine. It provides for river due both on cargo and passenger river transportation; it will be paid by a shipper and, unlike other taxes and dues provided by the Tax Code of Ukraine, will be received neither by the state nor by local budgets; it will be received by River Waterways Authority that will be the state one only formally, but in reality it will be controlled by a financial and industrial group with Russian capital. The officials constantly say that the international community allegedly supports them. In reality, the international community doesn’t support current version of the draft law. Letters of reputable international associations and organizations, including those one who give grants and provide technical assistance to Ukraine to study this issue proves this.
In addition, the draft law limits the rights of local communities as it deprives local authorities of powers on the issues connected with land, rent, issue of permits, including the ones for construction of facilities of port infrastructure and other facilities of water transport. Primarily heads of cities and regions are interested in attraction of investments in coastal infrastructure e.g. to contribute to decrease in traffic loading on the highways. They addressed themselves to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, asking to improve this draft law.
“It is very important now MPs from Kherson, Mykolaiv and other regions located near the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River understand that the draft law provides for payment of the river due by every passenger on any vessel. The river due should be cancelled; otherwise river transportation will not be competitive. I call on MPs from Kherson and Mykolaiv to consider their attitude once more and to think about the Ukrainians, rather than interests of a few individuals”, said Oleksiy Vadaturskyy.
