Every year NIBULON successfully takes a step forward to make Ukraine a marine state and to increase the volumes of cargoes transported by inland waterways, thereby demonstrating the efficiency of its own global strategy. The company started to achieve high results at the beginning of 2020/21 MY, when in August 2020, NIBULON’s shipping company transported the largest number of cargoes by water since it commenced operations – more than 470 thousand tons. Last marketing year NIBULON transported 4,262,077 tons of various products by inland waterways, having broken its own previous record set in 2019/20 MY by 11% . The company made 1,219 cargo trips. The company increased the volumes of cargoes transported by the Dnipro and the Dnipro-Buh-Lyman Canal. The shipping company achieved its best result since it commenced operations, having transported 3.8 million tons of cargoes. The company has transported 473 thousand tons of cargoes by the Southern Buh. By implementing over 10 years its large-scale investment program to revive Ukrainian rivers as transport arteries, NIBULON reaches new achievements.“Please note that NIBULON aims to increase river transportation. Thus, the company has created a well-developed network of 27 modern high-tech facilities, 13 of which are river transshipment terminals, comprising 10 branches located along the Dnipro, 2 branches along the Southern Buh, as well as the company’s transshipment terminal in Mykolaiv. The total river grain storage capacity is 1.13 million tons. Thus, grain logistics is maximally oriented to water transport”, summarizes Serhiy Kalkutin, NIBULON’s Deputy General Director of Logistics. To achieve its goals, NIBLON has revived shipbuilding and built Ukraine’s most modern fleet of 82 vessels used for various operations. To increase the volumes of cargoes transported by water, the company has built vessels that can operate in any season, including in ice conditions.According to the company’s experts, a combination of measures set and implemented by the company was important to increase the volumes of cargoes transported by river in 2020/21 MY. This was helped by the operation of the Zelenodolska branch transshipment terminal (Dnipropetrovsk region) built in 2020, the construction of two T410 project harbor tugs which replaced the linear tugs at the facilities and released the latter for making additional cargo trips, and the construction of two NBL-91 project vessels operating on the rivers. Last year the company dredged the access channels at the transshipment terminals located along the Dnipro and the Southern Buh, thereby increasing an average workload of the non-self-propelled fleet. Each non-self-propelled vessel can transport 10% more cargoes from Ternivska branch (Zaporizhzhia region), and Voznesenska branch (Mykolaiv region) is now using vessels by 12-13% more efficiently. We cannot help but mention the largest vessel in NIBULON’s fleet – the NIBULON MAX 140-m self-propelled floating vessel. This high-capacity and multipurpose vessel has significantly enhanced the company’s operations. By operating efficiently, NIBULON MAX has released part of non-self-propelled vessels and tugs. Consequently, the shipping company’s specialists have considerably improved the entire fleet operation by creating more efficient tow and tug trains. Having put the 140-m floating vessel into operation, the company has considerably increased the volumes transshipped in the outer roads and no longer needs to use services provided by third parties.Due to its fleet operation, the company has removed the equivalent of 20 thousand trucks from the roads in Mykolaiv region in 2020/21 MY. NIBULON has removed the equivalent of about 180 thousand trucks from Ukrainian highways. This very number of trucks did not enter Kremenchuk, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and other settlements across Ukraine. This is NIBULON’s contribution to the preservation of the environment and Ukrainian highways.NIBULON plans to achieve new goals in 2021/22 MY. NIBULON's next target is to transport 4.5-5 million tons of cargoes by water. This is a new challenge, but the company is ready for it. This is new history that starts right now.
