In particular, during this period the navigation safety specialists at NIBULON’s shipping company have carried out a whole range of practical and training measures – training and practice alerts, such as man overboard, oil spill removal, fire-fighting, water-fighting, and others.
The training that involved crew members from all NIBULON’s fleet units was held under various weather conditions and at any time of the day or night. All the teams acting in extreme situations demonstrated a high level of knowledge and efficiency.
In addition, the fleet operation sector at the shipping company performed preventive maintenance of the vessels during training.
NIBULON paid particular attention to navigation and radio-navigation equipment, engine and deck equipment on which navigation safety depends.
During an audit, the specialists analyzed vessel documentation and compliance of crew qualifying documents with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-Keeping by the Seafarers-78. They checked job description knowledge and crew actions in case of emergency situations.
Due to its activities, NIBULON’s shipping company managed to reduce the number of emergency situations almost to zero. This was achieved due to the crew members, their professionalism and coordinated activities of all services that ensure safety and efficient operation of NIBULON’s fleet. Please note that the company’s vessels are equipped with high-tech equipment and the tug’s capacity during operation is accurately calculated. NIBULON’s technical equipping and professionalism are a positive sign. This allows NIBULON, an agrarian company, to be competitive on the Ukrainian inland waterways and even to outstrip other specialized companies.

As part of its investment program to revive Ukrainian rivers as water transport arteries, NIBULON has been constructing its own fleet since 2009. At present the shipping company numbers 30 non-self-propelled vessels (the total deadweight is 138,580 tons), modern tugs, 3 purchased tugs, a unique floating crane, a dredger made in Finland, plus a Terex Fuchs MHL 385 D loading machine.
NIBULON has developed and is successfully implementing a production program at NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard with one-hundred percent workload for the next five years. In 2015-2018, the company plans to construct at its own shipyard 11 non-self-propelled vessels (NBL-91, В2000, 90М projects), a self-propelled floating crane (similar to St. Mykolai floating crane), a non-self-propelled C14938 project floating crane, multipurpose seagoing tugs of 3.5 and 5 thousand hp, plus a crew boat, and others.
In the 2015 navigation season (as of November 01), the company transported and shipped for export more than 2.8 million tons of agricultural commodities. Upon completion of the investment program, the annual cargo transportation will comprise up to 3 million tons of grain crops (1 million tons will be transported by the Southern Bug, 2 million tons – by the Dnipro), which represents the same figure as would be carried out by about 46 railcars or about 100 thousand trucks per year.
