NIBULON is a recognized leader not only on the Ukrainian agrarian market but also in the Black Sea Region. The company with a considerable share in the Ukrainian exports of most grain and oil crops cultivated in Ukraine continues its successful activity on the foreign market each year.
The 2014/15 marketing year (MY) has not become an exception for the company and started with a record figure due to 2.28 million tons of grain and oil crops exported in the first half-year. NIBULON exported the record quantity of agricultural commodities among the first months of the previous marketing years. The export figure (July 2014/15) is more than 620 thousand tons of agricultural products. The previous record was almost 450 thousand tons in July 2009. 2010 is ranked third with almost 438 thousand tons. The company has maintained its powerful export pace in the subsequent months of the first half of MY.
Wheat (39%) and corn (29%) prevail in the crop export structure by results of the first half of 2014/15 MY.
The peculiarity of this MY is that two main factors have influenced the corn sale dynamics on the domestic market: on the one hand, favourable weather conditions to grow and to harvest a corn yield: grain from many regions will be harvested with the quality indices enabling to store it without additional expenses for warehouses with bringing quality indices to basic conditions. From the other hand, the agricultural producers, taking into consideration hardly predictable economic situation in the country, have reduced investment in the construction of new facilities, purchase machinery etc. This decreased the urgent need for money from selling grain. These factors being different by their character but acting in one direction reduced corn supply on the market in the first half of 2014/15 MY. As a result, the total corn supply will be evenly distributed among other months of the second half of this MY.
According to the specialists of NIBULON and other companies, Ukraine must export about 12.5 million tons of corn till the end of MY.
Thus, taking into consideration the above mentioned peculiarities, NIBULON will compensate the amount of corn exports in the second half of MY, planning to export 1.5 million tons of corn more.
The dynamics of corn and barley shipments in the first half of 2014/15 MY has significantly exceeded figures for the same period in 2013/14 MY. We have already hit the corn and barley export target in the first half of MY and have enough residues for export in the second half-year.
In the current marketing year, NIBULON’s export geography maintains traditional directions, such as Middle East countries and covers 18 importing countries. The company supplies almost every fourth ton of grain to Egypt (23% of the whole export), Saudi Arabia (15%) and Spain (8%) this MY. In 2014/15 MY, the company has opened new shipment directions for itself, such as China (NIBULON shipped more than 118 thousand tons there) and Thailand (51 thousand tons).
According to APK-Inform, NIBULON is ranked first in the export of grain crops and third in the export of oil crops in the first six months of 2014/15 MY. The company’s share comprises 9,4% of Ukraine’s export market, i.e. almost every tenth ton of Ukrainian exports is shipped by our company.
NIBULON is an export-oriented company, but imports are also important for us. When implementing its investment program, the company cooperates with foreign partners, purchasing up-to-date equipment in the countries of Europe and America. NIBULON has an image of a reliable and serious partner.
In 2014 NIBULON continued its import activity, purchasing equipment to modernize the transshipment terminal in Mykolayiv city, elevators and terminals and also to operate its own fleet. The company signed 55 import contracts with foreign producers – leaders in their sector on the world market. Thus, in order to ensure operation of the shipping company’s fleet, NIBULON continued to cooperate with the leading equipment producers, such as Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH (Austria) and Aquamec Ltd (Finland).
This MY, the company’s priority task was to purchase import equipment to complete construction of NIBULON-5 and NIBULON-6 tugs that were put into operation in the second half of 2014. In order to ensure construction of the series of 121 project pusher-tugs, NIBULON has already signed contract for accessory and materials purchase. The suppliers are Netherland companies, such as ZF Marine Krimpen B.V. (rudder-propellers), Kroger Staal B.V. (rolled aluminium metal-roll) and Winteb B.V. (a set of air ends), as well as Swedish company, such as AB Volvo Penta (main engines and auxiliary diesel-generators) and German company AMCO Metall-Service GmbH (aluminium metal-roll) and others.
The company is performing active import activity in order to develop other directions of its activity. Thus, at the beginning of 2015, NIBULON traditionally purchases import seed for 2014/14 MY from international seed producers, such as Pioneer Hi-Bred Switzerland S.A. (corn and sunflower), Monsanto International Sarl (corn), Maisadour Semences S.A. (corn), Cajo Inc (sorghum).
The company’s motto is unchangeable when doing foreign economic activity: “To broaden our knowledge and experience in the foreign economic activity for achieving success”. The company plans to establish good relations with new partners, to confirm a reliable image of Ukraine as an international trade participant.
