NIBULON’s Deputy Director of Fleet Construction, Fleet Operation and Navigation Safety Andrii Volik and director of “Holoprystans’ka” branch Mykola Miahchenko arranged an excursion for a Swiss delegation around the high-capacity high-tech facility built with the support of the EIB and the EBRD. During the excursion Guillaume Sheurer was interested in peculiarities of each production process: from agricultural products receipt to its shipment on river transport. The Ambassador was pleasantly impressed with the equipment of the terminal’s laboratory and modern equipment that was manufactured in Switzerland.
“I was invited to open this terminal but, unfortunately, I could not come. But I promised Mr. Vadaturskyy to visit the terminal and I kept my word. I would like very much to visit it, see how it works because this is very important for Ukraine. In addition, we have been cooperating with NIBULON for a long time. It is a very pleasing fact.
All is absolutely just perfect. Such a state-of-the-art terminal could be in Germany, or in France, or in Switzerland. Everything is very beautiful here – from the architecture to the laboratory. It is very clean here – from the entrance to the shipment point“, said the Ambassador of Switzerland.
Guillaume Sheurer was also lucky to see several units of NIBULON’s cargo fleet operating, namely NIBULONIVETS non-self-propelled crane, Kremenchutskyi tug and a non-self-propelled vessel. The vessel was being unloaded at the berth of the terminal when the Ambassador arrived.
“River transportation is very good for the environment. It’s a modern way of transporting things. I think that NIBULON represents a state-of-the-art logistics system”, said the Swiss diplomat.
Implementing its investment program NIBULON not only revives the Dnipro River and other rivers as transport waterways of Ukraine but also minimizes the traffic of cargo transport, contributing to optimization of logistics and reduction of cargo transportation costs. NIBULON’s shipping company has transported about 820 thousand tons of agricultural products along the Dnipro River and the Southern Buh River this year; to transport this volume we would need more than 34 thousand trucks.
In turn, on behalf of Oleksiy Vadaturskyy Andrii Volik thanked the Ambassador for the support of the Embassy, “The Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine plays a key role in attraction of investment of the leading international financial institutions, in particular the EBRD and the EIB. This is an acting bridge between Ukraine and the European community”.
In addition, on behalf of NIBULON’s General Director Andrii Volik expressed his gratitude to the European Investment Bank for its support as recently inaugurated terminals were built and new vessels are built due to the loan agreement signed in the presence of the Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovič, in Brussels in December 2016. Thus, the EU contributes to the development of the Ukrainian economy, bringing our country closer to European standards.
We would remind you that on August 1, 2017, during a solemn reception on the occasion of the Swiss National Day Guillaume Scheurer said that it was true honor to give the William Tell Award to Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy on behalf of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine and Moldova for the fact that he has made considerable contribution to Ukraine and has strengthened relations between Ukraine and Switzerland. In turn, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy thanked him for trust and recognition and promised to continue to do everything to be worthy of this award.
