Area under wheat was increased by 12% and comprises 27 thousand ha in comparison with 2013. Areas under winter rapeseed (3600 ha) practically remain at the same level as last year; now rapeseed gives a record crop capacity of 34 dtha, and areas under winter barley comprise about 2.5 thousand ha. Priority in expansion of sown areas was given to wheat, as this crop has become a motive force of agricultural production economy this season. NIBULON receives not feed grain but high-quality bread one, where gross yield and high crop capacity combine (more than 42 dtha in 2014).
According to Deputy General Director of Agricultural Production Kostyantyn Khmelnytskyy, events in Eastern Ukraine have not influenced sown area expansion. Sowing in Lugansk region has been started since September 01 and completed on a tight timetable. Moreover, areas under winter wheat have been increased: if in 2013 this crop occupied 4.8 thousand ha, and now sown areas have been increased up to 7 thousand ha.
The total output of early grain crops has comprised more than 113 thousand tons in 2014. The company plans to complete harvesting of late grain crops. Previous forecasts demonstrate that due to balancing of crop capacity in different regions NIBULON will reach growth of total gross yield of grain crops in comparison with previous years. Corn harvesting is carried out by 15-20 days quicker than last year. In Vinnytsya region this crop gives 90-110 dtha. Besides, areas under corn were increased from 18.5 thousand ha to 22.2 thousand ha in comparison with 2013.
According to current data, the best indices of corn crop capacity are in “Pryseymivs’ka” branch of Summy region (98.5 dt/ha) and “Romanivs’ka” branch of Zhytomyr region (84.4 dtha). Despite unfavourable for this crop weather conditions, “Pryseymivs’ka” branch demonstrates the best sunflower yield of 30 dt/ha. High indices are at the branches “Suhorabivs’ka” of Poltava region (26.7 dt/ha) and “Starobils’ka” of Lugansk region (25.5 dt/ha). Soybean crop capacity: “Pryseymivs’ka” branch is in the lead again with a figure of 25.7 dt/ha. High yield of sorghum is demonstrated at the branches of Lugansk and Kharkiv regions: “Kupyans’ka” branch – 53.4 dt/ha, “Starobils’ka” branch – 53 dt/ha, “Svativs’ka” branch – 50.2 dt/ha.
NIBULON’s agrarians constantly prove that yield share depends not only on weather conditions. It has become a peculiar cult to strictly follow the requirements of growing and harvesting of agricultural commodities, high labour arrangement. At present, according to usual NIBULON’s practice, 10 Case combines are moved to western regions. There have been purchased new sowing machines for spring part of sowing; spraying machines and tillage machines have been partly renewed. The company plans to purchase new grain harvesters for its production branches next season.
Today’s indices of autumn harvesting campaign testifies that NIBULON has chosen the right strategy of development and proves in practice that Ukraine can and must obtain higher yields.
