In 2016, due to lack of necessary elevator capacities, as well as due to problems with logistics: the impossibility of transporting goods by rail from the areas adjacent to ATO area and absence of connection between elevators of Solidarne, Bilokurakyne, Novoaidar and Starobilsk with the rest of Ukraine, agricultural producers of Luhansk region suffered catastrophic losses. In particular, about 100 thousand tons of grain were not harvested in Luhansk region, including 7 thousand tons of grain and oilseeds from NIBULON’s fields that were not harvested in optimal period of time. In additions agrarians were forced to store the grain harvested at thrashing floors and at open storage areas, which negatively affected its quality and preservation.
Without waiting for the declarative statements of officials, including the ones of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian, on the construction of the railway between Bilokurakyne and Svatove to be implemented, as, as a rule, these are only promises, NIBULON solved the problem of transportation costs optimization for the delivery of agricultural products from separate regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions under Ukrainian control. It constructed its elevator complex for shipment on road and rail transport with grain storage capacity of 20 thousand tons and daily capacity of rail shipments of 3 thousand tons.
At present, the elevator complex of “Svativs’ka” branch ensures uninterrupted transportation of grain from “Starobil’skyy elevator” Ltd., which receives grain from agrarians (Markivka, Milove, Stanytsia Luhanska districts), as well as from “Bilovods’ka” and “Novopskovs’ka” production branches (less distance of road transportation). The complex extends its influence zone: both NIBULON’s production branches (“Svativs’ka”, “Kupyans’ka” and “Troyits’ka” branches) and agricultural producers from Bilokurakyne, Novoaidar, Kreminna, and Troitsk districts (Luhansk region) bring their harvest to this complex.
Since the beginning of its operation (October 2016), the complex has shipped more than 340 thousand tons of Luhansk grain on rail transport (about 5,230 railcars). NIBULON by its own example shows other participants of the grain market how to efficiently use railcars and invest in infrastructure, thus establishing logistics in the country.
In 2017/18 MY, NIBULON plans to ship 350 thousand tons of agricultural commodities from “Svativs’ka” branch on rail transport. Taking into account the volumes of gross grain harvest in Luhansk region, almost every 5th ton of harvested crops is being transshipped at the company’s elevator complex in Svatove.
